Huh? We're talking about Newt being the Secretary of State. Economic theory and advice doesn't really come with that job.houndawg wrote:GannonFan wrote:
Agreed. And besides, Gingrich has been out of the establishment for years now so although he knows Washington, he hasn't really been a part of it recently. And for all of his faults, Newt's a pretty smart guy - Trump could do much worse than Newt. And yes, Guiliani doesn't look all that with it anymore. He's hitting the senile times and I'd rather someone else be the AG.
That's all we need , a tired old political hack advising the new President to shut down the economy..

I believe houndawg meant to say, ".... shut down the government." Progtards have some difficulty distinguishing between the two, as they desire the economy to be centrally planned by the government.GannonFan wrote:Huh? And I hope CID is right!
If you have some tea leaves that tell you what his foreign policy will be then good for you
The ONE area where he seems to start to drift into any area of detail is when he's talking domestic policy and actual physical homeland security. The very first thing he referenced in his acceptance speech was infrastructure. He's short on detail but he is obviously leaning that way, and I'm inclined to think that our overseas activities are going to have a paradigm shift over the next few years

I think the only plus is he will be able to combat the leftist media that will attack Trump non-stop. Outside of that, yeah I don't think having an alt-right guy hanging around the WH would be good for this country given the current racial divide.BDKJMU wrote:Nope. That is a + 1. Go ahead and watch the interview, clearly there won't be a dual wall spanning the entire southern border as promised to the dumb asses that literally believed it. Hell, his own words were "some of it won't be a wall but a fence". Yeah no shit, large potions of the boarder are already just a fence.

I don't remember hearing him say a 'dual' wall during the campaign. Even if he did, most of the time it was just 'wall'. And there's not a big difference between a wall and fence.SDHornet wrote:Really there are already walls up? Gee who knew?BDKJMU wrote:

I think there are only two with a realistic shot here- Bolton and Corker. McChrystal being on the list is intriguing... every time DOS has had a former general as SecState the department has benefitted. We have serious, institutional leadership problems at State and the military types always recognize that and make pretty good fixes.SDHornet wrote:Here is the full list of finalist per theNYT. With a McChrystal, you're largely right. But Colin Powell is still revered at State. He had no legacy aspirations and instead turned his attention internally to the horrible HR issues (that still exist) and lack of access to basic things like email for all employees.93henfan wrote:You know where I work. They went to GMail here. It works well for getting access for everyone worldwide, but the loss of functionality of MS Office is challenging. GMail labels are far inferior to just building folders.CID1990 wrote:With a McChrystal, you're largely right. But Colin Powell is still revered at State.
