Tony Romo...

Post by Chizzang »

Note:
Tony Romo will never have higher value than the day he becomes available off IR...
The Cowboys could get a second rounder for him from any of 10 bottom feeder teams

But foolishly they'll play him instead of trade him
and he will proceed to lose all his value
after he shows everybody how average he is... or gets hurt again

The NFL is a brutal business game
Getting young at MONEY positions is a HUGE advantage
If you have a QB locked in a $1 Mil for the next 4 seasons
that allows you to sign high value pass rushers
and free agent Left Tackles and Big Wide Outs and Monster Skill players

The Cowboys are in a PRIME position to get HIGH value for an aging QB
and then sign a shutdown corner or a big pass rusher

But they won't because Jerry Jones is mostly not very bright

Ask Grigson (GM of the Colts) who tweeted this
"Were not very good all around because we pay our quarterback $24 Mil a season"

Romo and his glass clavicle shouldn't be playing again IMO.

Dak should, and I think will next week, be the starter.

I don't think Romo has much trade value at all - big contract, fragile body are just not good combinations. It's possible that Romo has played his last game in the NFL. Why would a struggling team want to trade for him, especially something as high as a second round pick? He gets hit one more time and he's done. That's not something worth blowing a high draft pick.

I have always been a proponent of the theory that a starting quarterback does NOT lose his job due to injury. Tony Romo, on the other hand, is making me SERIOUSLY re-think that. Prescott is doing an AMAZING job, and short of signing Danny White, Prescott is their best option at this point.

Someone might take Romo if the price is right (cash or a LOW draft pick) as insurance, but his days as a regular starter are likely long gone....

Romo's days as a starter are long gone but not the immortal Danny White's?

So, your contention is that a retired, senior citizen quarterback is better than Prescott? :suspicious:

He's not even the best Cowboys quarterback. Think Staubach.

White died. I saw it happen. Dexter Manley took his head off.

Pics reminded me of the white jersey head games that the Skins and Eagles used to play with Landry.

This. You didn't see Staubach lose his starting job to Gary Hogeboom and Steve Pelluer.

But the Cowboys did make a call to the bullpen for Clint Longley.

First of all, Peyton Manning's going to go down as one of the greatest QB's in the NFL of all time, despite his post season record. Tony Romo isn't even in the top 3 of Dallas QB's of all time. You're really insulting Manning by comparing him to Romo.

And second, compared to Tony Romo, especially now, Peyton Manning had the durability of a tank (and since we know Manning was anything but durable, that gives you some idea how fragile Romo is). If this was boxing, I doubt that Romo could even get a sanctioned fight anymore for fear that he couldn't protect himself. The guy is toast.

So you would argue that Romo has ZERO trade value to any other team in the NFL
and
His career is over

Is that what you're saying - because it sounds like that's what you're saying

Chicago, Jacksonville, NY Jets...just a few teams that I think would trade for Romo in a heartbeat

Whether they SHOULD is a totally different question
