Is that really a slur, though, since he's a redneck as well? It's like various ethnic groups calling each other the worst words other groups can call them, it's like Hillary calling other people liars and crooks - I mean, if you are already that thing is it a problem?

Again, on the serious side though, every day just sees more and more separation from two large groups in this country - the know-it-all, liberal, professional elite, and the racist/sexist, undereducated bluish collar folks. They're all Americans, so the vitriol they view each other with is more and more disturbing. It's not going to change once Hillary wins the election, it's just going to keep getting worse and worse as it has with every election since 2000 (actually since 1996 - a lot of this scorched earth stuff started happening during the Bill Clinton administration, and it's just carried forward in every election since). Politics just keeps finding new lows.

I think the USA will cease to exist within a generation. Either another Civil War, or -- more likely -- a financial meltdown due to a failure to deal with entitlements and debt.

I think the USA will cease to exist within a generation. Either another Civil War, or -- more likely -- a financial meltdown due to a failure to deal with entitlements and debt.

I've been thinking the same thing for several years now. Nobody stays at the top forever.

I think within a generation there will be a hard economic reset that could last for a generation where things will get really ugly for a long time. We will become way more balkanized than we are now. I think the US won't cease to exist, rather will cease to exist as we know it.

That doesn't bother me that much any more. I guess I've basically lowered my expectations to benefit my blood pressure.

The one thing that jumps out at me from that article (and gives me no small amount of delicious glee) is how a bunch of long snooted liberal elites are so irritated at the perception that other elites have the gall to look down on them with an air of intellectual superiority

At this point politics are like NASCAR- I only watch for the accidents
