Stop whitesplaining/mansplaining to us. You're inability to check your privilege is bound to perceived as a microagression.

Anyone notice that the Olympics are going heavily Asian in the next few years in terms of location? 2018 winter is in South Korea, 2020 summer is in Tokyo, and 2022 is in Beijing. That's basically a 700 mile radius with Korea as the midpoint. Should we expect a big attendance boost by the North Korean contingent? Going back to Sochi (which I consider Asian because on my Risk board that side of the Black Sea was in Asia and counted for the 7 extra armies if you held it for a turn) 4 out of 5 consecutive Olympics will be held in Asia. I bet Ryan Lochte is to blame for this.

I like how you explain Russia is in Asia. The Ukraine is weak.

With the bribery crackdown lately it's probably punishment from the IOC - we scared them out of their normal ways of business so they've gone to places where that's still allowable and encouraged. :thumb:

OK, wtf. An apparent dude running for S Africa claiming to be female in the 200m. The announcers said it's been pointed out by everyone. They said they have discontinued gender verification.

Again, wtf? They drug test but don't junk test?

She/he is intergender - has both sets. Apparently up to 60 million people worldwide are similar. Makes the future of women's sports interesting. They had a testosterone limit in place in the past few years and this runner had to take pills to lower her natural testosterone, but they voided that rule in the past two years. She has a natural level 5x that of the average woman, so yes, she can be bigger and stronger. Maybe they'll need to have a third category in addition to the men and women - a "trans gender or intergender" division.

She doesnt have a uterus or ovaries. She does have non decending testies and a vagina. Because of the testies her testosterone is at an elevated level. This isnt a big surprise because she competed in the 2012 Olympics as well and won silver.

I have to say, the track & field coverage has been awful. Maybe it has always been and I have just noticed it even more this time around, but dear god is it boring. They show the race, then like 5 replays, then a bunch of people standing around doing absolutely nothing. For fuck sakes edit that shit down to like 20 minutes then move on to another sport. :x :ohno:

Yep, and that one commentator with the occasionally gravelly voice who gets really excited at the drop of a hat just annoys the shit out of me. Probably from Montana

Nah, it's because track and field are boring. There's a reason why there's little to no coverage of track and field in the US in the years in between the Olympics and it's because it's horribly boring. Look at Usain Bolt - great guy, fantastic athlete, but the 100m is basically a bunch of tensed up prima donnas hanging around the starting blocks for 4-5 minutes, followed by 10 seconds of running, and then another 10 minutes of preening around the track with various flags and photo ops. That's 10 seconds worth of action in more than 15 minutes of actual time. People who disparage football go on and on about the lack of action would abhor track and field. Factor in the fact that they show every single preliminary heat in this (at least in swimming you see only the semifinals and the finals) and it just multiplies. Heck, last night they showed shot put and it had to be an edited feature since you can go 4-5 minutes between attempts.

I didn't say I or anyone ever held Asia, I'm just saying the board said if you did you would get 7 armies. Never would happen until the end game and there were only two people left. Me, I liked making a fortress out of Australia. It never worked, but it was fun to have a tiny corner of the world that was all mine for awhile. :thumb:

Nah, baseball flies compared to track and field. There's a new pitch every 10-20 seconds in baseball. If they tried to keep up that pace in track the shot putters would keel over from exhaustion.
