Why have golf and billiards in the 2020 Olympics: They're both about knocking a ball into a hole.
Show me a place where I said golf should be in the Olympics asshat. You won't find it because I've actually been on record saying it should NOT be in the Olympics.
IMO, only sports where the Olympic gold is the international pinnacle of the sport should be in the Olympics. Tennis and golf definitely do NOT belong and to be honest, soccer shouldn't be either.

Wow 89Tyrion, that went right over your head. My point wasn't that if Olympic swimming should only be about a single stroke than we shouldn't have both golf and billiards in the Olympics but that golf isn't really a sport. It's a competition of skills more akin to billiards or darts than a true athletic competition. I was just making a little fun of one of your activities so lighten up Francis.

Your point sliced into the woods. You're hitting three from the tee now.
We can get into the sport debate if you like, but it's usually pretty futile. Everyone's definition is a little different and it doesn't diminish the game/skill/sport in any way.

Except you're walking 6-8 miles 5 or 6 days/week and it's one of if not the most complicated motions in all of athletics (oh shit, here it comes )
Golf = sport
Gymnastics = not
Billiards = sport
Diving = not
Darts = sport
Figure Skating = not
Non sports, require judging. I agree.
BINGO
The one exception may be ski jumping. Not sure why in the hell they give points for style, but I'm not sure I've ever noticed somebody winning with a shorter jump.

6-8 miles/day is nothing and professional golfers don't even carry their own bag.
As far as the number of swimming events, don't watch if you don't like them.

I'm sure I could come up with a good qualifier to eliminate motor sports.
I freely admit that I suck at golf. It seems that for you anything that requires judging is not a sport while I define sport more based on the athleticism and conditioning required. NASCAR requires greater conditioning than golf.

Not only that. There must be an offensive and a defensive effort. You are just out there battling the terrain...not a sport.
I walked over to the convenience store a while back. It wasn't a sport. If I would have carried a stick and a small ball and tried to hit certain objects along the way, it still wouldn't have been a sport.
I dug some sprinklers up and replaced them this afternoon. It took effort, some skill, but it wasn't a sport.

So much for their equal pay push. America doesn't care about losers, and when you don't get at least silver in a sport you are favored in...well yeah good ladies.
