Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
Fuel pressure issue caused by an electrical problem somewhere. He was on pit road 4 times during qualifying to try to record a time but they couldn't get it straightened out.
Hopefully they get it figured out

Keselowski is a douchebag.
Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
Didn't see the race but Cassill went from 40th to 23rd.
Either they got the car straightened out real nice or it was another week of Landon escaping the big one. He has a real talent for that.

After the race:CAA Flagship wrote:Keselowski is a douchebag.
Keselowski: "Sorry, Martin. That was my fault."
Truex: "I know it was."
Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
That was good racing. Keselowski f'ed up, but it wasn't malicious by any means. Truex was wavering between high and low to try to set up Hamlin and Keselowski guessed the wrong lane behind him while he was working on his own setup of Truex. They're all in the Chase, so they were all going for the win since there's nothing really to lose. This is what NASCAR wanted when they went to the Chase format.

Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
Yeah, 93' pretty much summed it up. Brad f'ed up, Truex was right to be pissed in the immediate aftermath, Brad was a man about it and apologized to Truex face to face, and Truex (once he had cooled down) acknowledged it was just hard racing..

Would Truex have gotten by Hamlin if Truex hadn't been spun by Brad? Maybe, but only if he had gotten into Hamlin's bumper or rear qtr. Hamlin did say he let up a little on that final turn because he didn't want to have a repeat of what happened at Sonoma in June when he overdrove the corner allowing Stewart to get into him, put Hamlin into the wall and go on to win. I guess you could say Karma for Hamlin to get his 1st road course win after what happened at Sonoma..
Truex certainly would have qualified much higher than 14th, may have been on the pole, if not for Stenhouse..

Big news for Furniture Row Racing this past weekend:
-Truex signed a 2 year contract extension with FRR and Bass Pro will increase from 12 to 16 races as the primary sponsor.
-FRR is adding a 2nd car next season. The #77 5 Hour Energy will be driven by Erik Jones, the 2015 Truck Series Champ, currently in 1st place in the Xfinity Series standings. Only 5 of 20 Xfinity races have been won by non Cup drivers, and Jones has won 3 of those..

Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
"Top dirt-track racer Bryan Clauson dies from crash injuries
Bryan Clauson, considered the top dirt-track racer in the country, has died from injuries suffered in an accident at the Belleville (Kansas) Midget Nationals USAC midget race. He was 27.
His death was announced Monday morning at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A statement from his family was read that said Clauson died Sunday evening.
"Our Bryan fought to the end with the same desire that he demonstrated behind the wheel of all the various race cars he would park in victory lane," the family said in the statement. "However, we were more proud of our Bryan that took a moment to make a young fan's day, or demonstrated his uncommon kindness and appreciation toward his friends, family and fans."
Clauson was leading the race Saturday night when he crashed passing lapped traffic. His car rolled and was hit by another competitor. He was airlifted to a hospital in Nebraska, and died surrounded by his family.
Clauson was on pace to compete in 200 races this year. He had 27 victories in 116 starts, and led three laps in the Indianapolis 500 in May.
A four-time USAC national champion, Clauson was aiming to become the winningest driver in series history. He was a three-time winner and the defending champion at Belleville.
Clauson came from the same mold of old-school racers such as A.J. Foyt, Gary Bettenhausen and Stewart — he would race anything, anywhere. He was a California native and earned a USAC-IndyCar scholarship for winning the 2010 USAC national driver's title.
The scholarship earned Clauson six Indy Lights starts in 2011 in a car shared with current IndyCar Series rookie Conor Daly at Sam Schmidt Motorsports while Clauson continued to race in USAC's national series. His best finish in eight career Indy Lights races was third at Iowa Speedway in 2011.
Clauson won the scholarship award again in 2012, allowing him to make his Indianapolis 500 debut in 2012 with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing. Clauson returned to the Indy 500 in 2015 with KVSH/Jonathan Byrd's Racing, then led his first career laps this last year driving for Dale Coyne.
"Bryan Clauson combined his passion and enthusiasm for grassroots racing with a God-given talent that made him the favorite to win every time he got in a midget or sprint car," said Doug Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. "He possessed a humility and character out of the race car that made him a person that fellow competitors and fans alike enjoyed being around. His spirit, his positive outlook and his thrilling talent will be missed by the entire racing community."
Clauson was a development driver for Chip Ganassi in NASCAR, where he competed in 26 races over the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He also spent several seasons driving for Tony Stewart's sprint car team. Stewart said after the NASCAR race on Sunday he hoped to see Clauson's parents and fiancee, Lauren, soon.
"That kid drove for us for a long time and did a great job and never went anywhere," Stewart said. "I don't care what happened, no matter how bad his day was, he always found a way to smile with it. Him and Lauren being engaged, kid had such a bright future.
"It sucks when it's anybody in racing, it's hard when you lose them, but it's even worse when they're somebody as close to you as Bryan was," Stewart said.
Clauson had another wreck during the weekend.
After that crash Friday night, he posted on Twitter his appreciation for his safety equipment, his chassis manufacturer and his team for getting his car ready for him to race Saturday night.
Many top NASCAR drivers immediately took to Twitter to ask for prayers for Clauson....."

Wreck starts about the 12 second mark. At about 17 seconds unfortunately he gets tatooed by the other car. I think thats what (caused the injuries that) killed him..

If anyone ever wondered why Sprint Cup doesn't race in the raIn like F1, check out USA Network right now. The Xfinity series allowed rain tires and wipers for Mid Ohio. Total shit show in the rain, even on grooved rubber. It looks like 40 woman drivers on I-95 in a snow storm. No grip at all in cars that weigh this much. Five to ten cars going off course or spinning out every lap.

Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
I thought it was rather exciting to watch (Only saw the last 15 laps). Only saw one caution in those last 15 laps because the cars going off into the grass or dirt would just be spinning their tires and drive right back onto the track. Was a little like watching a dirt track race on pavement or drift racing. And the guy who won, Justin Marks, I don't remember seeing drive off pavement once. Dude knew how to drive in the rain..93henfan wrote:If anyone ever wondered why Sprint Cup doesn't race in the raIn like F1, check out USA Network right now. It was fun to watch once, but clearly not workable in its current state. I'm not sure if a better tire could be developed, but the one on Saturday obviously wasn't suitable.

Bristol starts over an hr late due to track drying due to rain and only got in 38 of 500 laps before more rain. Just ending about an hr and a half rain delay and getting reading for restart at 10:50 with more rain possible. If they get the whole race in tonight going to be racing till about 1:30 AM..

And here comes the rain again. They got in 10 laps under yellow to lap 49 before an absolute deluge hit about 10:50. This might be the last cell. Maybe they'll be able to restart by 12:30 and get the race done by 3:00 AM..I think they should call now at 11 PM and restart it tomorrow around noon...

Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
Didn't restart till bout 4:45. Even then had another short rain delay before finishing about 7:45..Busch brothers cause back to back wrecks that involve about 15 cars, including a lot of the top ones..
Harvick wins, followed by an unusual top 5 of Stenhouse, Hamlin, Dillon, Buescher.. Tony Stewarts last race at Bristol. Does dual burnouts with Harvick. Racing, once they finally got it started, was decent. NASCAR put rosin down on the bottom to improve grip so drivers could run the top and bottom grooves..

Re: 2016 NASCAR thread
Saw the results and figured there had to be two larger wrecks for Cassill to grab his 4th top 20 over some of the cars he did

Stenhouse and Beuscher in top 5 indicates the shit show that occurred.clenz wrote:Saw the results and figured there had to be two larger wrecks for Cassill to grab his 4th top 20 over some of the cars he did

Well, yeah...there's that.93henfan wrote:Stenhouse and Beuscher in top 5 indicates the shit show that occurred.clenz wrote:Saw the results and figured there had to be two larger wrecks for Cassill to grab his 4th top 20 over some of the cars he did
Beuscher, even though he's a teammate of Cassill, is quickly becoming someone I don't like. By all accounts Landon is the better driver yet the team with almost no resources has been dumping everything into Beuscher for quite some time.
Landon was, according to people I know connected to the race scene supposed to be next in line for Gordon a few years back. Then some shit with the economy and back room deals bent him over I guess. Same type of shit is happening at FRM right now with he and Buescher.
Buescher has lucked, into 2 top 5 finishes, including his win, and until tripping into his second top 5 of the season wasn't in the chase even with his win. He's in now....but just barely. Hell, he's still behind Cassill in driver points. He has 4 DNF's this season, Landon has zero. Landon has run more laps (by 300), has more top 20s, and led more laps this season. Yet all season Buescher has been "the face" or FRM.
I really wish Cassill would've been the guy Truex added to his team. Oh well...

It could also have something to do with skinny jeans.

Landon has a long career a head of him, once he's done racing, on TV for NASCAR or anyone else. I'm sure you're too old to follow social media but Landon crushes all aspects of it. He's on TV each week with NASCAR.93henfan wrote:It could also have something to do with skinny jeans.
No, he doesn't have a thick southern accent, wear beat up farm clothes, eat red meat 24/7, have a toothpick in his mouth at all times, etc...
Yes, he wears fitted/designer clothes (even his fire suite is tapered and cuffed in a fashionable way), runs triathlons (he and his father completed on in Ireland over the off week last week), is vegan, etc... but the kid (he's a whopping one year younger than I) can drive the hell out of a under funded car. Him in a good car would be a top 15-20 driver I'd bet
