CAA FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2016 TELEVISION PACKAGE

Post by BDKJMU »

"RICHMOND, Va. (June 22, 2016) – CAA Football has announced an extensive 30-game television package for the 2016 season, which includes 18 conference matchups in conjunction with the league’s broadcast partners, NBC Sports Regional Networks and the American Sports Network.

NBC Sports Regional Networks – which includes CSN Mid-Atlantic, CSN Philadelphia, CSN New England and SNY – will carry 11 CAA Football games and one non-conference contest this season. NBC Sports Regional Networks deliver more than 2,200 live sporting events annually, along with award-winning breaking news, comprehensive analysis, digital content and original programming to more than 43 million homes.

The American Sports Network package will feature eight CAA Football games this fall. ASN – the collegiate sports initiative of the Sinclair Broadcast Group – has affiliates that reach approximately 40 percent of U.S. households. Sinclair operates 173 television stations airing 483 channels in 81 markets, and has affiliations with all the major networks nationwide.

In addition to the conference package, at least 10 non-conference contests featuring CAA Football teams will air nationally on ESPN3.

CAA Football’s televised games will also be available on a variety of desktop, mobile, tablet and smart TV devices. The NBC Sports app will stream each of the CSN games at no cost to authenticated subscribers. In addition, CAA.tv will provide free digital coverage of numerous CAA Football contests throughout the season.

The 2016 television package gets underway on Sept. 10 as perennial power New Hampshire entertains Holy Cross at 7 p.m. on ASN in the first game from newly renovated Wildcat Stadium. Conference play takes center stage with a doubleheader on Sept. 17 as 2015 NCAA FCS semifinalist Richmond visits Stony Brook at Noon on ASN, followed by Villanova hosting Towson at 3:30 p.m. on CSN to kick off the league schedule for the two squads.

CAA Football’s television lineup includes at least one conference game on every Saturday between Sept. 17 and Nov. 19. Six Saturdays – Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 15, Oct. 29, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 – feature CAA Football doubleheaders. There will be three games broadcast on Oct. 8 as Rhode Island travels to Villanova at Noon on ASN, James Madison entertains in-state rival William & Mary at 3:30 p.m. on CSN, and Towson plays host to Stony Brook at 7 p.m. on CSN.

The regular season concludes on Nov. 19 with CSN and ASN each picking a “wildcard game”, which will showcase the best matchups based on the conference standings. The networks will choose the games no later than two weeks in advance.

Specific CSN and ASN clearances will be announced weekly throughout the season...

5th year of NBCSports contract to carry 5 CAA games. Must have had an opt out clause, as no CAA games nationally televised on NBCSports channel, only on the ASN & CSN regional partners..

Why does the CAA have such a deal, and why don't the other conferences? Have the league presidents told the SIDs to "Sit on it, Ralph?"

So awesome to see the list of CAA games that I'll have the opportunity to view out here in Portland on CSN, especially when the Montana Sports Network (aka ROOT Sports) that "has" the Big Sky package won't show anything but Montana and Montana State.

I don't know if there's a contract or not, but the ASN has shown a great deal of SOCON and Big South games for about 2 years now.

TV networks are in it to make money. If you want to see more PSU games televised, maybe you should convince some of your fellow Portlandiers to watch football on Saturdays instead of touring organic kale farms. :coffee:

But was that kale watered with organic, free range, cruelty free water?
