One thing I've learned from TBH being a counselor, and me going to grad school for it, is how poorly society/medical fields treat mental health issues.

Society wants to shame those with mental illness. Society believes it isn't a "real thing" because you can't see it like a physical condition. It's just being "weak" or "a pussy". People who need help often don't get it for fear someone finds out.

The insurance/medical field basically treats it the same way, and treats it like it's still "quackery". Insurance companies don't cover counseling sessions, or if they do it's only a small portion/reimbursement.

Until our country takes the mental health of it's citizens seriously nothing will change
But there are people that are "weak" or a "pussy". It's difficult to differentiate.
No, it's really not. From a professional stand point it's extremely easy to differentiate.

The problem is the "you're just a weak pussy" crowd is damn quick to shame and those that need help won't go get it out of fear for how people will react and treat them. Much the same way that many people that are gay won't come out due to fear of how they'll be treated by friends/family. There are differences within those two, obviously, but the point is very similar.

Mental illness?

C'mon, half the people on here are mentally ill. Just look at the 180 that JSO did. And look at Wedgie...he calls out Trump, but not Clinton. That is mental illness.

Obomba and Clinton are dumping BILLIONS of dollars worth of arms to every whack job country (with abysmal human rights records) on the planet...and some azz clowns on here defend her and somehow believe she favors not killing people with guns.

Funny, some people call Trump a racist...and scream that he hates Muslins. In the meantime, the Democratic candidate they support has actually supported, and is responsible for, the killing of hundreds of thousands of Muslins, many of them women and children.

"But...but...but...those dead Muslin people is dem foreigners, so they don't count."

:dunce:

In the end, this guy's father was a nut job that we allowed to come over from Affy. His son was a nut job, but the FBI didn't lock him up. Why? :suspicious:

Was he gay? Who cares? Did he lean towards Islam and use its teachings to kill gays? Yup.

But hey, let's not talk about Islam...that would be racist...wait...bigoted. Let's just kill the savages in their own lands, and do business with them, and sell them arms...and pretend nothing is wrong, and there i nothing hypocritical about that.

Yeah...lone gunman...no notice...just a guy who suddenly went off the deep end...not working with anyone.

"The Orlando gunman's wife has told federal agents she tried to talk her husband out of carrying out the attack, NBC News has learned.

Omar Mateen's wife, Noor Zahi Salman, told the FBI she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster, several officials familiar with the case said. She told the FBI that she once drove him to the gay nightclub, Pulse, because he wanted to scope it out."

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/orland ... ck-n592051

Why didn't she report that he was going to attack? :suspicious:

Islam.

She needs to be charged as a conspirator.

You can bet a lot of people in the Muslin community would not have reported the upcoming attack if they knew.

Islam. :ohno:

He planned it...carefully. It wasn't a sudden attack.

I will feel safer if Obama/Clinton change the gun laws. It will mean the terrorists and wacko's will quit shooting innocent citizens.

I have nothing to doubt this guys pledge of allegiance and fidelity to the Islamic State. Sure he had also claimed allegiance to Hezbollah and the Taliban that aren't chummy with the Islamic State, but I just figure he was uneducated in this regard. Along the lines of people that call AR platform semi-automatic rifles Assault rifles and want them banned after attacks like this one and the one in California.

I have to wonder at the calls for gun control coming out of this. The reaction of Russia to threats/attacks by the Islamic State was to attack them. The reaction of France (for God's Sake) to being attacked by the Islamic State was to hit them back. The reaction of our country is to disarm it's law abiding citizens...

I'm not sure what the logic behind this is, other than that which the Federal Government used @ Wounded Knee...

Didn't we supply them with arms through Libya and set them up to start with, under the watchful eye of Secretary Clinton?

I'm not going to defend that, but...

1. What does it have to do with you disingenuously trying to paint the picture that the US isn't (and hasn't been) combating ISIS?

and

2. Do you really think ISIS wouldn't have gotten their hands on the weapons they wanted some other way? Or does that argument only pertain to guns in America? :kisswink:

1). I was talking only about terrorist acts in the US by those claiming allegiance to ISIS. You have taken a broader view I did not.

2). Those who are willing to go outside of legal means to obtain weapons will almost always find someone willing to sell weapons at an outrageous profit. I believe that the government should cut down on illegal gun trade, not participate in it (i.e. Iran Contra, Fast & Furious, ISIS, etc.). I do not believe that the US government should disarm it's own law abiding citizens as an answer to acts of terror within its borders who do not participate in such activities, but should rather respond in such a way as to deter encouragement of future events.

We also supplied the rebels in Afghanistan who fought the USSR. What did they morph into, and whose watch was that under? Just sayin... :thumb:

But, why are these acts always carried out with legal guns?

I can't think of one mass shooting with an automatic weapon bought off of the black market or bought. They're often semiautomatic variants that have been modified to be legal.

Sure, someone with the connections can buy any number of things on the black market. However, you need connections. If you go trawling on the internet looking to buy illegal shit without any idea what you're doing - you're probably going to wind up talking to an undercover FBI or ATF agent far before you get a connection on the black market.

These guys are very often loners. They can't make normal connections with people, much less connections on the black market.

This dude wanted to buy body armor. He was denied. He didn't buy any on the black market.

If he couldn't have purchased a gun... would he have been able to make black market connections? :coffee:

Of course you aren't going to try to defend that...but you won't actively, and consistently, attack it, or scream out the hypocrisy of it, either.

Hey, on one hand, we are fighting the bad guys (see Syria)...and on the other hand, we are supporting the bad guys (see Yemen).

Go Obomba...he was told the Yemen war would be over swiftly...and he decided to support the war.

Nothing to see here...just another lie getting us into another Middle Eastern war. What's the definition of insanity? :suspicious: Is this the kind of, "experience" Obama is touting as necessary to be President?

'“As I read the conflict in Yemen, I have a hard time figuring out what the U.S. national security interests are,” Senator Christopher S. Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said during a congressional hearing this year.

He added that “the result of the coalition campaign has been to kill a lot of civilians, has been to sow the seeds of humanitarian crisis, and to create space for these groups — these very extremist groups that we claim to be our priority in the region — to grow.”'

But but, democracy and freedom and all that jazz. Buzz words to make America feel more important and claim to the moral high ground in a world that doesn't know any better.
