Reading comprehension, Clucky. I said the "right to have an honor code".
Soooooooooooooo...if some people are campaigning to remove a part of BYU's honor code, are they not challenging BYU's right to have their own honor code? :suspicious:

Or are you saying that 110,000 people are OK if BYU makes an honor code that is only user friendly to those who don't like anything that is in the current, and those who potentially won't like some things that won't be put in a future version of the, honor code?

"Oh yeah, BYU...sure, you can have an honor code. It is your right. Of course, make it a nice one and we won't challenge anything we like. This will work: 'Everyone can eat yummy cookies!' Now that's an honor code we can all honor...unless some weight challenged person challenges that honor code."

It is true that I don't really care...
But the idea that there is an active debate on here about BYU's honor code is ridiculous

BYU has no honor themselves
They continue to prove that over and over and over again

It would be like watching Baldy defend Hilary Clinton's honor - just try to imagine that
Because that's about how ridiculous this BYU "honor" thing is

Well in this case "honor" might be a matter of semantics

It sounds like the use of illicit drugs is an "honor" violation at BYU

I don't see that as necessarily a dishonorable act- although it is an illegal one.

But the bottom line is that every student who sets foot in that school signs on to that version of "honor", no matter how hypocritical it may be to you or even me

which is why I can even care less about this gal getting kicked out- she knew the rules and she made at least a tacit pledge to adhere to them on pain of dismissal

maybe she can get into Utah now

I wasted 5 minutes typing this when I meant to be clipping my toenails

I have a rather sensitive disposition regarding University Honor Codes and the various application of said codes by the office of academic integrity and student conduct... Which is the very same group of hypocrites that sent me packing in my youth

:geek:

Is there honor among criminals..?
Can those with no dignity or honor themselves dispense ruling of "honor" on the accused dishonorable..?

Agree she violated the honor code. However, she was also raped.

Does the JSO/Baldy/Cluck camp submit that rape victims should be silent so as to avoid possible honor code violations?

Sounds like BYU is basically inviting rapists to their campus because it's the best place to get away with it. Just give a chick a beer before you rape her and you're good.

Really...
I know that no individual human being knows any more about God
than any other human being - and that's just a plain old fact

and
Cosmic Santa Claus isn't really that complicated
combined with the childish elitism of deciding who goes to hell and who doesn't
which so many American Religious leaders seem obsessed with
as well as tribal cabal safety mechanisms
there's not nearly as much to "get" as you'd like to believe

on the plus side:
It makes us feel better and more connected to each other and the universe
and I know I love the idea of God
and think its the single most important question and topic
placed in the face of humanity for all time

Other than that... Clearly YOU get it and I don't
Which explains perfectly why I feel the way I do about RELIGION

Nonsense.

But, we'd expect nothing less of someone who doesn't believe in personal responsibility.

The fact that she violated honor code, which she willingly signed and accepted, is something she needs to...you know, HONOR.

Of course, the word, "honor" is completely foreign to someone like you, dback...life has way to many temptations, so people don't have to honor their word on anything, right?

The rape is completely separate. If she wants to report it, that's her decision. Lots of women face the same question...everyone of them has to handle it like a man and make the best decision for themselves. A woman who cheats on her husband, bringing guys to the house without her husband's knowledge, and who gets raped by one guy she invited into her home, but changed her mind, has a choice to tell the police or not. Does her husband have to stay married to her after she willingly brought a man home? :suspicious: Yeah, right.

Action have consequences...not all of them intended. Man up and tell the truth if you want justice. But also expect that justice will be served equally...you don't get to pick and choose only the justice that favors your position. :coffee:

As for the guy...if guilty, he serves his time...deservedly so.

People are responsible for their actions.

There are pretty much two different arguments going on here...

1) She signed the honor code - fuck her
and
2) BYU the most hypocritical dishonest religious organization second only to Scientology has an honor code

Again, reading for context is your friend, Cluckster. BYU has a RIGHT to set their honor code. They don't have a RIGHT to not be criticized for it.

You can CHALLENGE that micro aggression all you like. It might even offend you that I dare to criticize. It might offend you that the girl is seeking to chall....oops, I mean question her own religion's authority, but in the end, we still have the RIGHT.

I saw an interview on CNN yesterday morning with this chick and one other BYU chick.

I learned that after this chick went to BYU, they went to the accused rapist who had a connection with the local police department who forwarded BYU a copy of the police report, which allowed BYU the evidence needed for the honor code violation charge.

That's just incredible. Either way you're trying to argue this on an Internet forum, if you don't blatantly see that BYU is really fucked up and in the wrong on this, well, you are really fucked up and in the wrong on this.

I am not saying BYU is anything.

But, she violated the honor code. Period. End of story.

If she had any HONOR, she'd resign from the school and deal with the rape separately. She willingly broke their rules. I don't care if a talking toad told the administration...or if she told the administration. And if she didn't, then screw her because she has no honor...she was trying to hide her willingness to break the honor code.

If I were raped (by anyone other than Trump's daughter, and other such gorgeous trollops), then I'd report it to the police and all authorities involved. I'd deal with my honor code violation as it should be dealt with.

The honor code is completely separate from the rape.

Again, would you give your wife/girlfriend/gimp an honor pass if they were dating someone secretly, let a guy into your bedroom, and he raped her? :suspicious:

"Honey, I was raped by the guy I was dating behind your back...it happened in our house, but don't worry, the kids weren't home."

"Well, I was going to be upset that you sullied our house by bringing a guy you had romantic notions towards into our home, but since he raped you, your transgressions are forgiven."

Sure, you could support your wife through the issue of rape...and the marriage might survive, but would you give her a free pass for willingly bringing her date into your home in the first place? :suspicious:
