I do like the idea of an age restricted minimum wage. If people are going to be trying to make a living off of a minimum wage, there's no reason to eliminate the truly low level, even seasonal work that can be done by students just looking to make a little money. The person scooping caramel popcorn out of a bin at the store on the boardwalk at the shore doesn't need to make a living wage, they're just there to make a little money and enjoy the view.

age restricted minimum wage like this exists already.
you can pay someone under the age of 20 $4.25 an hour for the first 90 days (whole summer vacation) of the job.
that's the federal minimum wage. most states will have different laws... but, almost all have age restricted minimum wage.

Simple solution would be to just scrap the fed minimum wage and let every state set their own minimum wage. If its not addressed in the Constitution it should be left up to the states. States rights.

Not really. The bigger the house, the more bathrooms vs bedrooms you will find.
If you have one per bedroom (on a second level), you will usually have at least one on the main floor.
Bathrooms that have an outside door (with shower) for places with a pool is not uncommon.
The norm is something like 2 bed 1 bath. 3 bed 1.5 or 2 bath. But it's odd to see more baths then bedrooms, unless you have a pool house which I'm assuming is the case. And I say this as some one that has appraised real estate from 2000-2007. You normally don't have more bathrooms than bedrooms.

Would only have any affect on 5 states.BDKJMU wrote:Simple solution would be to just scrap the fed minimum wage and let every state set their own minimum wage. If its not addressed in the Constitution it should be left up to the states. States rights.
But, if Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Louisiana don't want a minimum wage at all. I say go for it.
These states are currently the ones that suck the teat of the federal government more than the others. Will only exacerbate that... but, fuck it. Go head.

Re: Fight for $15
I was at Panera Bread in Charlotte last week, during the lunch hour rush. The place was packed, yet there wasn't a line for the register...which was weird because there was 1 person working the register. And from the look at it, she probably trained on the very first cash register ever built. So, why wasn't the line out the door? Automation. In 3 different locations, there are a total of 12 " Fast Lane Kiosks" where you can order. After ordering you find a seat, or wait by the pick up counter. I was picking up. Also, let me say that there were 4 people in line to order and by the time I had placed my order, the person who was #4 in line, was now #2.
There's a screen where you are in listed in order of your submitted order. These kitchen staff was busy, laughing it up but orders were coming out. I asked the person I assumed was the manager (she was) about the automation and how they work, and her response was interesting. Since implementing the kiosks, they've increased profits. They have more people working, in the kitchen, and are getting meals out at an alarming rate. They have a few more people on the payroll; they are able to process orders quicker than before which has translated into a profitable business than last year (before the automation.) Which is good because they are at the heart of downtown where Bank of America, Wells Fargo, NASCAR, and millions of others work.
I had placed an order for myself and 3 other people, and I was walking out 10 minutes later. The order, before it's released, is checked against the receipt and marked for correctness. A task which seemed to only take a few extra seconds on my large order. So I would safely assume this isn't a huge time suck.
Cool story, bro.

And that is my biggest problem. Let's face it $15/hour is not a living wage in NYC but it is in Greenville SC. A lot of the places that will be harmed by this are the successful, fast growing but low cost of living places like Greenville SC.kalm wrote:As I've mentioned before, 15/hour in Cheney, WA is not the same as 15/hour in Redmond, or NoVa, or PG, or Charlotte.
It's a cookie-cutter arbitrary number.

http://www.investors.com/politics/edito ... it-passes/Hundreds of employees at the University of California at Berkeley are getting schooled in basic economics, as the $15 minimum wage just cost them their jobs. Too bad liberal elites “fighting for $15” don’t get it.
A week after California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the state’s $15 minimum wage boost into law, UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas Dirks sent a memo to employees announcing that 500 jobs were getting cut.
