Emory University president says students are scared and 'in pain' after someone wrote 'Trump 2016' in chalk on campus

The president of Emory University has spoken to demonstrators who said they were frightened after someone wrote 'Trump 2016' in chalk around campus.

Students at the Atlanta school, which has an enrollment of more than 14,000 claim their 'safe space' was violated when the messages appeared on sidewalks and buildings.

Jim Wagner, president of the Atlanta university, wrote Tuesday that the students viewed the messages as intimidation, and they voiced 'genuine concern and pain' as a result.

Good GRIEF. But it reinforces the point that if Trump gets the Republican nomination turnout is not going to be a problem for the Democrats. They went into this with concerns about whether they could generate turnout. Trump as the Republican nominee eliminates that concern.

The youngest members of my generation and this new Gen Y are pathetic. I bet you can find something more intimidating or painful written on the Facebook pages of these crybabies. What a joke. Our country is screwed when these lemmings become adults.

"As a result student organizations offered counselling to anyone who may have been impacted by what they had seen.
Emory on Wednesday provided The Associated Press with a copy of Wagner's letter, in which he said students confronted by Trump's name in chalk 'heard a message about values regarding diversity and respect that clash with Emory's own.'
Emory's student newspaper, The Wheel, said Wagner outlined four steps that administrators plan to take in order to address the issues raised by the protesters who said they were in pain in a campus-wide email.
He proposed 'immediate refinements to certain policies and procedural deficiencies; regular and structured opportunities for difficult dialogues; a formal process to institutionalize identification, review and addressing of social justice opportunities and issues; and commitment to an annual retreat to renew [their] efforts.'"

:dunce:

Two things:

1) My 12 year old has a stronger mental make up than these college twits

2) I am in absolute awe of the administration at Emory.  They managed to get themselves an extra free vacation from the weakness of their students. They are now committing to an annual retreat to renew their efforts against potentially challenging chalkings. I'm sure that, "retreat" will be low budget and located in a troubled part of some run down town that no one wishes to go to.

Holy fucking shit! The school paper's coverage is hysterical! And the photo of the rally....

Image
Roughly 40 students gathered shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the outdoors space between the Administration Building and Goodrich C. White Hall; many students carried signs featuring slogans such as “Stop Trump” or “Stop Hate” and an antiphonal chant addressed to University administration, led by College sophomore Jonathan Peraza, resounded “You are not listening! Come speak to us, we are in pain!” throughout the Quad. Peraza opened the door to the Administration Building and students moved forward towards the door, shouting “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

After approximately ten minutes outside from the start of the demonstration, the gathered students were ushered into the Quad-facing entrance to the Administration Building and quickly filled a staircase to continue their demonstration. Pausing in the staircase, a few students shared their initial, personal reactions to the chalkings.

“I’m supposed to feel comfortable and safe [here],” one student said. “But this man is being supported by students on our campus and our administration shows that they, by their silence, support it as well … I don’t deserve to feel afraid at my school,” she added.

All I have to say about this is:
Hippies are looking cooler more intelligent constructive and bad ass every single f*cking day

Hippies disconnected from the system - These twits want "The System" to coddle them
Hippies were self reliant and creative - These twits are brainwashed and helpless
Hippies utilized the ZEN code of ethics - These twits are hypocritical and selfish
