Re: 2016 Republican Primary
Why is everyone (here and the MSM) so hung up on the "Republican Party" or the "Establishment"? What difference does it make anyway? The bottom line is that Trump (the person) has tapped into the frustration of many voters over the Obama Administration's failed policies and divisiveness, as well as the lack of action from Congress.kalm wrote:You are absolutely sprinting from your own rhetoric and lack of reason now.JohnStOnge wrote:
Yes I know that there is a liberal/progressive talking point or talking concept going around that the Conservative and/or Republican arguments attacking centralized national government authority, etc., created this. Trump IS the Republican Party in 2016, a popularity forged by decades of irrationality.
(And Cruz is hardly more sane. In fact in many ways he's much worse)
Own it!
I don't understand why the need for all the labels. Who cares? The important question is, will he fix the problems.

Well, pretty much like the article lays out, the decision to go negative on Trump 2 debates ago was DUMB. Totally backfired..kalm wrote:It's getting sad now...BDKJMU wrote:

-In debate #7 on 2/6 from New Hampshire Rubio had his repeated robot response to Christie disaster.
-In debate #8 on 2/13 from SC. he bounced back with a very good debate. And up to that point he and Trump had played nice. He had left Bush and Cruz to get into the weeds with Trump.
-In debate #9 on 2/25 from Houston, after 0 wins in the 1st 3 contests, Rubio (well more like his advisors) made the stupid decision to go negative on Trump. They tried to out Trump Trump. DUMB. He sank in the polls and did even worse in the contests.
-In debate #10 from Detroit on 2/13. Then Rubio & advisors doubled down on their stupidity.
If Rubio hadn't gone negative on Trump I think he had a good shot to be Trumps VP pick. Can't see that happening now. Not with all the insults hurled between the two.

No it isn't. Bush was establishment. The establishment HATES the anti establishment Cruz as much as they do Trump. Assuming Mini Me is done, the closest of the 3 left (Trump, Cruz, Kasich) you have to the establishment Bush is the establishment Kasich. Kasich is the only establishment of those 3 . Kasich is after all, a career politician (27 of the last 36 years). The entire DC republican establishment is going to coalesce around Kasich hoping (slim chance) he can get to a brokered convention.Ibanez wrote:Anyone voting for Cruz is voting for an extension of Bush policies.No. More. Re: 2016 Republican Primary
Are you familiar with Cruz, at all? Domestic policy advisor to President George W. Bush during the 2000 election which garnered for him places as the DOJ and the FTC? $1M loans from Citi and Goldman-Sachs (where his wife worked, thanks to Bush and the connections). His wife is another former Bush advisor.BDKJMU wrote:No it isn't. Bush was establishment. This guy is bought and paid for by Wall Street. He's an insider. The "establishment" hates Ted Cruz because he's a Tea Party fanatic and he criticizes his own party. But i'm not talking about establishment, per se. I'm talking about someone that will continue the failed policies of Dubs and might actually be more dangerous to this country. Republicans don't like guy, and you think they'll like him any more if he's POTUS?
And Dubya doesn't even like.

Re: 2016 Republican Primary
Marco and Kasich are the obvious establishment choices, with Kasich being the best choice. But that doesn't mean Cruz, on a policy level, isn't similar to Bush. Cruz is just obnoxious and pouts when he doesn't get his way. He's a bitch.BDKJMU wrote:No it isn't. Bush was establishment. Lindsey Graham was correct when he said,
Even Cruz realizes that he has to tack towards the center. He's cozying up to Graham. It won't be long before he's courting the very people he's mocked and vilified in his floor speeches. If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you

Re: 2016 Republican Primary
I've been on the road a lot over the last 6 weeks and i've listened to a lot of talk radio. Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh (even Hermann Cain, who knew he had a show?!) are great entertainment - especially Cain. Seriously, find Cain's show and you'll either laugh at how horrible his personality is OR you'll fall asleep at the wheel. And while we're on the subject, the last 2 black men to run for POTUS as Republicans have been dull and monotone. It's interesting.
Anyway, Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh are dancing around the candidates and talking out both sides of their mouths. They put down Trump and then praise him when a caller says something that they themselves just said. Limbaugh is the only one that refuses to endorse anyone for the simple fact that he doesn't want to explain himself when the person he endorses screw up. They agree that Mittens screwed up in 2012 and again with his Anti-Trump speech. It's very interesting.
End. Rant.

Re: 2016 Republican Primary
"Report: 46,000 Pa. Democrats Become Republicans Due To Trump
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year.
According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump.
There’s even a title for the movement. It’s called “Ditch and Switch” and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trump’s place in the general election.
Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. G. Terry Madonna, tells the paper he has a theory behind the switch.
“With the increase in support in exit polls for Trump among working class, blue-collar Democrats, it is my belief that these are people who fall into that genre,” said Madonna.
The numbers are similar in other states as well.
The paper says in Massachusetts, as many as 20,000 Democrats have gone from blue-to-red this year with Trump cited as a primary reason. And in Ohio, as many as 1,000 blue collar workers have promised to switch parties and vote for Trump.
Numbers show that some Republicans are also switching to the Democratic party, but nowhere near the numbers that are switching to Republican.
Records show that the party changes seen in the first two months of 2016 are twice those seen in all of 2013."
