Wentz Top 5?

Post by kalm »

Not really shocked because in addition to his size and apparent IQ I've always thought that he has outstanding footwork for a guy of his stature. :thumb:
INDIANAPOLIS — The buzz and fascination around North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz hasn't slowed down much since his solid Senior Bowl performance heading into the NFL scouting combine, and there's a good chance he could be a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

The Cleveland Browns are a possibility at No. 2 overall. The Dallas Cowboys have to be interested at four. The other teams picking in the top five, even without a quarterback need, all could be open for business for trading down for a QB-needy team. NFL Network's Mike Mayock compared Wentz's upside to that of Indianapolis' Andrew Luck.

The hype is starting to become reality.

They sure seem to like him

I was surprised to see V.Adams run a 4.8
Thought he was faster than that

He always struck me as more shifty/slippery than outright fast.

Right. Adams is more more Tarkenton than he is Vick.

Big fucking deal. He's got 5 rings and 2 as a starter how many do UNI or Montana players have over that time frame?

It would be nice if he could go somewhere and sit a couple years to learn the system and adapt to the NFL speed.

Maybe he can get his heavy flow in sync with Romo's period!

His point was that a lot of QBs that went on to start NFL games fell victim to the WaGriz magic. Josh McCown threw 4 picks in the 2001 quarters, Tony Romo got his ass handed to him in the 2000 first round, John Friesz fell victim to "Nygren's Ride" in 1988, etc.

Romo lost a playoff game, at home, to UNI
Super Bowl champion Brandon Jacobs was winless against UNI

See, pretty much every college can start picking NFL guys and go "he didn't beat us"

Bison lost, but Montana didn't really stop Wentz, 2 passing TD's and 2 rushing TD's. A young Bison defense could not stop the Griz offense, giving up 38 points.

Right. Wentz lost, but he didn't play bad. Of course, we don't know if he'll actually end up starting an NFL game. ;) None of those great EWU QBs ever did (Meyer, Mitchell, Nichols).
