Hey, I like Kasich, and in a political climate other than the absurd one we are living in now, Kasich would be a great candidate. However, he just doesn't move the needle in the South at all. He was hovering around Carson numbers yesterday in any place other than Massachusetts and Vermont. I think he's sensible, well-spoken, and pretty level headed, but that doesn't play in this election.

Conversely, you can see why Cruz would have no chance in a national election (and Rubio to a lesser extent but still same outcome) - those guys are fine in fire-breathing tea party places like Texas, but they don't have any chance to draw in moderates and *gasp* Democrats. Cruz's speech last night was indicative of why he can't govern - he looks and acts like a (going to get all un-GF like here, hold on) smug prick who doesn't get along with anyone. And that's fine when you're an idealogical-toting loner in the Senate *cough* Bernie *cough* but it means you won't accomplish one iota when in office, which won't happen anyway because it's not appealing to people who don't live in log cabins in Texas.

It's Trump versus Hillary now. The Democratic establishment will never let Bernie have a shot and Trump, as I said before, sucks all the air out of the room. It will be an interesting next few months.

Odd no one mentioning Trump's appearance last night. When was the last time you saw a candidate, on election night, do something other than a rehashed stump speech in front of thousands of committed fans and donors? Gotta hand it to Trump, he comes out and does a press conference and even takes questions from reporters. He's proving again that in the era of reality TV, he's supremely positioned to do well in it. He's a candidate with tons of flaws, but it's amazing how the size of his personality is covering up a lot of them.

I think it depends on the state. In Iowa many of the Carson votes were evangelical types. If Carson wasn't in I think the majority of those votes would have went to Cruz. That's why the Cruz people were pushing the "Carson is dropping out" message in the hours before the caucus. Maybe in other states that's not the case.

Cruz has gone of the deep end. I'm sure he's very intelligent but he just comes off as an ass that no one likes. And the longer this goes on the worse it is getting. The best thing about Cruz is he gave our governor a big "fuck you" on ethanol and still won the caucus.

I wonder if Rubio would drop out and Kasich would announce that Rubio would be his VP pick if that would change things for the establishment candidates.

Not me! My hometown of less than 500 is now about 60,000. It grew from people moving from everywhere else. Those assholes aren't real Texans or maybe first generation. We real Texans were almost all good people. Cruz ain't no real Texan.
One of the local news channels does a week piece on Texans with character or something like that. Almost everyone featured is not a real Texan but from somewhere else. Even the people doing the stories are from somewhere else like Michigan.
