Of course being the huge geography and fishing nerd that I am, I had to conduct some further research on the Malheur NWR, Harney Basin, and Donner and Blitzen River. Turns out there's a population of native redband rainbow trout that became isolated from the Columbia Basin by lava flows millenia ago. I honestly don't understand why law enforcement (and the media) didn't just go home. They wanted a spectacle....law enforcement and the media gave it to them. They were literally in the middle of nowhere this entire time.

Finnicum, the guy who got killed, had an arrest warrant and attempted to evade. They were all armed.

At some point, they were not going to be allowed to do whatever they wanted.

I just had to pay the IRS $3500 in fines for a completely innocent and understandable first time payroll tax mistake. Their letters were nasty, threatening seizure of property or forfeiture of my first born, and I was basically hung up on, while trying to figure it out all out by some coont in customer service. And I was being sweet as pie!

Still didn't load up and take over a bird sanctuary though.

Yes. I've literally spent 9 hours on the phone at various times (mostly on hold) "negotiating" with them. I filed for an abatement and was denied. I'm now appealing the abatement.
