Wish I knew it man, I'm not in the Buc Club. I heard they have a few dozen for former players if they drop by the AD office but haven't had a chance to drive out there. Odds are I'll be standing in the mud and grass too. It's bullshit. Trust me...lots of alumni and former players have expressed this to the admin. Our proudest moment as a football program is being tarnished by this COMPLETELY avoidable and easily fixable situation. It's the freaking Final 16 in the nation. Should be able to handle a crowd that our upstate high school teams draw weekly. Byrnes vs Dorman will out draw CSU vs Citadel and they won't have any seating issues.
Actually I was being tongue in cheek. I know that the actual physical seats in the stands are being held for the Buc club people. The rumor is that not all of those seats have been sold, so it will be interesting to see how CSU opens them up for sale-

a guy who went to the campus to buy tickets said that he was told by the lady selling them (when she asked who they were pulling for) that they didn't want El Cid fans sitting among the CSU fans.

In reality it wouldn't surprise me if more El Cid fans buy tix than CSU fans, but only so many people can stand around that field and actually see the game. Once people are about three deep they will start standing on charis, and then nobody behind them will see.
Should go by the bookstore....get a cheap CSU shirt....then go pick up tickets and ask to upgrade haha!

Seriously....this is so bush league. All trash talk is water under the bridge for me.....fact is the Charleston area has 2 of the top 16 FCS teams in the nation and we're squaring off in one of the biggest FCS games in this states history.....and we have to deal with a miniature crisis on how to seat less than 10,000 people. It's embarrassing and both teams fans deserve better. I'm going today to pickup tickets. If I hear anything about that code I'll PM ya.

Hey buc, I drove by CSU this morning on my way to dropping the kid off at day care. I think you have some rented bleachers set up. There's a set, on the visitor side, that's large and looks out of place. I don't remember seeing them before.

Oh, and the mobile set you guys have (the ones that were turned AWAY from the field and locked when CCU played) is now facing the field.

We're they green? Opposite side of Hwy 78? Those went up last year for the Citadel game. If it's something other than that then great, but those went up a year ago. Ugly and out of place.

It's such an easy fix. Just make the two side sections on the home side the same as the middle section....which would make the home side look fairly decent. Move those side A and C sections to the visitor side with the other silver ones. Put that ugly green one in the end zone and be student section.

Maybe next year.

And yet, 5 days and 2 threads later, all that has been accomplished is seating talk and a South Park video.

Anybody care to talk about the football game?

That's why I'm so pissed about it. It's the brightest spot light ever cast on CSU football....and dragging our feet on the stadium upgrades has resulted in this week being dominated by talk of seats. It's our own fault. Citadel fans aren't whining....it's a legit gripe.

Imagine if Wofford got a home game a we got sent there....and they only sold us seats on the grass hill? I'd be pissed. Well....we aren't even offering a hill.

You guys aren't offering a hill, no. But you're offering your normal away side, plus an extra rented 1,000.

The way I see it is this..

- The NCAA requires that the home team allots 600 tickets to the visiting team. Your AD gave Citadel 800+

- My guess is, your home side seats 2,200 - 2,500. While your away side seats a little over a 1,000. (even though the website and wiki say you guys seat 4,000 total)

- Add that extra rented 1,000 seats, and you have a pretty neutral amount of butts in seats per team, it looks like last year the whole away side including extra bleachers were filled with Citadel blue.

- Scrolling down the list of about 100 FCS stadiums, seating of 4,000 - 5,000 is pretty popular when it comes to FCS stadiums, I actually counted 34 with under 6,000 seats in the stadium.

- 2,500 CSU butts in seats, 2,000-2,200 Citadel butts in seats, the rest standing.

The way I see it, it would be the same situation at any high school stadium around there, or Blackbaud, or 30%+ of other FCS stadiums in the country. Most likely the quarters won't be at CSU if they win considering JSU beats Chat, so the winning team is probably on the road next week anyways to a more privileged stadium. So just enjoy this one and roll with it. Not much more can be done at this point.

You are wrong. When Coastal and El Cid travel to CSU, it's standing room only. There's no seats left. And, your vantage point sucks. You're better off watching it from a cherry picker that pulled off the side of the road.

And the local high schools, i've been to sold out games, and the only people standing are the "cool kids" that are there to socialize, not watch the game. The stadium is a legit gripe. Who cares about the game if you can't see it?

They publicized the code yesterday - I think they had sold all they were going to sell to donors/Buc club folks and the seats that were left sold out quickly. Those were the only physical seats sold to El Cid people. Pretty much everyone had already bought SRO tickets, so the ones who were lucky enough to get actual seats also bought SRO tickets at the start of the week.

The majority of tickets sold are being picked up at will call. That's going to be interesting!

BUCS90 what is up man, just found this site.

How you going to take a dis at the OL like that. LOL

Go BUCS

Who cares about the seats? The game is not for the fans anyway it is for the players and coaches. We played a game at Jacksonville University without any stands and didn't bother us then.

CSU is being forced to consider better facilities. Funny thing is we just upgraded facilities this season and it is not helping with seats. I am proud that we are even in a conversation with The Citadel. They refused to even play us forever now it's interesting how things take care of themselves.

I love the comment about 2 CSU's one on the right and one on the left. That is so true. I have a parking spot but have not been able to attend due to being a daddy and seeing my little ones play soccer this season. Due to the mojo that has developed with watching on my phone/computer/TV that will continue. I thought about scalping my tickets but I'm sure the spot will be filled fast.

I'm not surprised it's all will call. They are woefully unprepared for anything in the 21st Century.

And the school is either cheap or doesn't pay attention. My sister is a senior there and says the womens bathroom in a few of the buildings haven't had any soap, towels or toilet paper for over a month.

Come to Charleston Southern, for a wholesome, Christian education. Bring Toilet Paper.

Haha. Well...in CSUs defense....all dorms are 2 rooms sharing 1 bathroom instead of how many colleges have common hall bathrooms. It's nice. But yeah...they neglect the few common bathrooms in the dorms because students all have 1 full bathroom for every 2 rooms.
