Turkey being all up in arms about "airspace violations" holds little water considering that theybhave consistently violated Greece's and Cyprus's airspace for years now and plus in 2012, their OWN leader came out and stated that "a short term violation of airspace is not the pretext for an attack".

Also as Putin stated, instead of contacting Russia after this incidenct, Turkey immediately contacted NATO command. They're itching for a fight and i suspect believe that NATO pressure will intimidate Russia into stopping their attacks on ISIS, who they covertly support.

I doubt it. Turkey makes beaucoup dinero off of Russian tourists.

I just concluded several conversations with the New York Liberal establishment, as well as a Lebonese Mulsin, and it is amazing how people will desperately cling to their preconceived notions of how they think things should be.

First off, my sister-in-law's grandmother was a Syrian Muslin, but she married an Italian Catholic. In fact, ALL the Muslin siblings married Catholic men, except one. Guess what? The only Muslin chick who stuck with a Muslin husband completely separated herself from her sisters, claiming they had...shit, too long to post from my I-phone. I will pick this up Sunday...Holy Crap, they invited a Lebonese Muslim woman over, and naively struck up a conversation involving their proud Middle Eastern roots, and their Catholic backgrounds, expecting a Liberal NYC response, and then laughed, they thought along with her, when the Muslin woman asked them why they didnt know that Muslim women were supposed to marry other Muslims. Oooops!

JFC..One of the idiots present is a producer for both NPR and the BBC.

This connection will tine out before I can possibly post the details of what happened, but lets just say you will not hear about the conversation on NPR.

Doesn't really make any difference. Turkey followed the rules of engagement, giving ten warnings. Russians broke rules by first violating Turkish airspace, second by not responding, and third by not turning away immediately. Russia knows they **** up, which is why Putin hasn't already shot a Turkish plane down.

I will say this: no NATO plane had better get anywhere close to Russian-claimed airspace anytime in the future, or it will be dodging missiles.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Chinese step up their responses to US passage near their artificial islands in the S China Sea as well.

The Turks did nothing wrong here, but perhaps doing nothing would have been the better option. I could see Russia funding some opposition group in Turkey in a covert op to blow something up to leave a calling card.

If Russia openly retaliated wouldn't we be obligated to get involved.

Correct. But they won't do it openly. Probably something along the lines of economic damage, cash/weapons to the PKK, and s-400 missiles in northern syria.
