How long has the US been violating Syrian airspace?

How long has Turkey been violating Syrian airspace?

And, not just entering airspace but conducting bombing missions for years now in Syrian airspace.

I'm sure you'll be of the same opinion if the Syrian, Russians, and Iranians start strictly enforcing the Syrian's airspace?

And you guys wanted me to answer how so many people could be involved and no one speaks out. WELL?!?! Now you see that it's all done without the pilots even knowing!

A lot of butt hurt coming from you over a couple of dead russian pilots.

We'll see where this goes. Everyone knows the last thing NATO wants to deal with is Russia. There should be some good entertainment regarding this. Good thing Hildbeast hit the reset button with Russia, so I don't think the USA has anything to worry about here.

What I heard today is that this was more about Russia bombing ethnic Turks than it was about airspace. Supposedly the Russian plane was not in Turkish air space for long at all. Sounded to me like the Turks just watched and as soon as crossed the line they shot it down. The message they're trying to send, at least according to what I heard today watching TV, is "don't bomb the ethnic Turks."

But this is some crap people. I mean this has the potential to be very serious.

When I got into work we have a big video board that rotates headlines. First thing I saw was "Obama says Turkey has the right to defend themselves". Being two days before Thanksgiving. It was a WTF moment.

I don't believe I stated an opinion. It's an observation. Russia has been violating Turkish airspace. Turkey has been warning Russia of consequences. We saw the consequences today.

As for the U.S. and other countries violating Syrian airspace, I haven't really head any objections from the Syrians. They actually gave implicit permission when they said they would not fire on coalition aircraft conducting operations against ISIS.

Turkey being all up in arms about "airspace violations" holds little water considering that theybhave consistently violated Greece's and Cyprus's airspace for years now and plus in 2012, their OWN leader came out and stated that "a short term violation of airspace is not the pretext for an attack". :coffee:

Also as Putin stated, instead of contacting Russia after this incidenct, Turkey immediately contacted NATO command. They're itching for a fight and i suspect believe that NATO pressure will intimidate Russia into stopping their attacks on ISIS, who they covertly support.

The United States believes that the Russian jet shot down by Turkey on Tuesday was hit inside Syrian airspace after a brief incursion into Turkish airspace, a U.S. official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The official said that assessment was based on detection of the heat signature of the jet

Doesn't really make any difference. Turkey followed the rules of engagement, giving ten warnings. Russians broke rules by first violating Turkish airspace, second by not responding, and third by not turning away immediately. Russia knows they fucked up, which is why Putin hasn't already shot a Turkish plane down.

I will say this: no NATO plane had better get anywhere close to Russian-claimed airspace anytime in the future, or it will be dodging missiles.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Chinese step up their responses to US passage near their artificial islands in the S China Sea as well.

The Turks did nothing wrong here, but perhaps doing nothing would have been the better option. I could see Russia funding some opposition group in Turkey in a covert op to blow something up to leave a calling card.
