Conference by Conference Breakdown (2015) - Week 12

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Big Sky

PORTST 34-31 EWU
UND 45-21 CP
UCD 35-21 SAC
NAU 41-49 SUU
IDST 14-35 WEB
UMT 54-35 MTST
ACU 36-40 NOCO

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 16-17

    vs. FCS: 1-0
    Overall: 6-7

Best Performance: (#20) Southern Utah 49, (#24) Northern Arizona 41 - The T-Birds did allow 606 yards, but they also gained 607 yards and won the turnover battle 4-1 in what was almost certainly a must-win for the postseason.

Worst Performance: Sacramento St. 21, UC Davis 35 - The Hornets are shredded by Aggie QB C.J. Spencer and fall to 19-44 in the Causeway.

Most Surprising Result: North Dakota 45, Cal Poly 21 - What's more surprising: that NoDak dominated Cal Poly on the road, or that it still wasn't enough for a playoff berth? :?

Southland

UIW 30-3 HBU
ACU 36-40 NOCO
MCNSE 20-14 LAM
SHSU 42-13 UCA
NICH 27-24 SELU
SFA 17-33 NWST

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 7-16

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 0-4

Best Performance: (#10) Sam Houston St. 42, Central Arkansas 13 - The Bearkats put the Southland at-large question to rest early as they dominate the Bears.

Worst Performance: Houston Baptist 3, Incarnate Word 30 - At least the Huskies beat Nicholls last year. This season, they went winless against DI, lost every game by double digits, and lost all but one by at least 21.

Most Surprising Result: Northwestern St. 33, Stephen F. Austin 17 - The Demon defense makes Zach Conque look real bad as Northwestern State finishes the season winning 4 of 6.

Missouri Valley

MIZST 0-55 NDSU
SIU 28-49 UNI
SDK 0-46 ILST
SDKST 24-30 WIU (2OT)
YSU 24-27 INST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 18-12

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 16-3

Best Performance: Western Illinois 30, (#5) South Dakota St. 24 (2OT) - The Leathernecks get 12 tackles-for-loss and take advantage of poor Jackrabbit special teams in a win that turned out to be even bigger than originally thought.

Worst Performance: South Dakota 0, (#6) Illinois St. 46 - Not the way Joe Glenn wanted to close out his career. :-|

Most Surprising Result: Western Illinois 30, (#5) South Dakota St. 24 (2OT) - Not only did WIU deny SDSU a seed, they also picked up an unlikely playoff bid themselves.

OVC

UTM 28-25 SEMO
EKU 7-21 EIU
MUR 20-42 JAXST
TSU 24-30 TTU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 10-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 8-5

Best Performance: Eastern Illinois 21, (#23) Eastern Kentucky 7 - You could debate about how deserving they were of an at-large nationally, but 7 forced turnovers and only 193 allowed yards made the Panthers the clear best choice from the Ohio Valley.

Worst Performance: Tennessee St. 24, Tennessee Tech 30 - The Tigers lose their last 5 games to teams without "Peay" in their name.

Most Surprising Result: Tennessee Tech 30, Tennessee St. 24 - The Golden Eagles lose to TSU for just the 3rd. time in the last 12 meetings.

Pioneer League

BUT 27-28 USD
DAY 17-27 DRAKE
MHEAD 20-17 MARIST
VALPO 13-58 JU
DVDSN 20-17 STET

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 19-14

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 5-12

Best Performance: Drake 27, Dayton 17 - The Bulldogs finish 5-0 at home by getting 6 sacks and taking advantage of Dayton's lack of need for this win.

Worst Performance: Stetson 17, Davidson 20 - If you can't even beat Davidson, you deserve last place.

Most Surprising Result: Davidson 20, Stetson 17 - So… the Wildcats plan all along was to break the conference losing streak record and then start winning again? Right? Right??? :thumb: :?

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Patriot League

LAF 35-49 LEH
BUCK 10-14 COLG
GTOWN 7-45 HC

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 16-19

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 15-17

Best Performance: Holy Cross 45, Georgetown 7 - Two Crusaders get double-digit catches for triple-digit yardage in a surprisingly easy win.

Worst Performance: Georgetown 7, Holy Cross 45 - The Hoyas' other 3 Patriot League losses were by one score each, so this performance was a surprising letdown.

Most Surprising Result: Holy Cross 45, Georgetown 7 - Holy Cross finishes with a winning record for the first time since they had 7 straight winning seasons from 2005-11.

NEC

SFPA 20-30 DUQ
BRY 20-21 RMU
WAG 17-45 SACHRT

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 13-21

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-19

Best Performance: Duquesne 30, St. Francis (PA) 20 - The Dukes take advantage of 3 Zack Drayer interceptions to overcome a 14-0 deficit and clinch their first-ever playoff berth.

Worst Performance: Wagner 17, Sacred Heart 45 - In their first season without Walt Hameline since 1980, the Seahawks finish with double-digit losses for the first time ever.

Most Surprising Result: Bryant 20, Robert Morris 21 - A missed PAT late causes the Bulldogs to go from "Playoffs! :thumb:" two weeks ago to "Losing Season!" now.

CAA

ALB 2-20 SBU
MAINE 6-22 UNH
URI 21-38 TOW
W&M 9-20 RICH
NOVA 29-38 JMU
UD 14-10 ELON

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 17-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 16-7

Best Performance: (#14) Richmond 20, (#7) William & Mary 9 - Jacobi Green runs for 217 yards and a TD and the defense forces 3 picks as the Spiders clinch the CAA auto.

Worst Performance: Albany 2, Stony Brook 20 - After a nice regrouping the last few weeks, the Danes are smothered by the depleted Seawolves.

Most Surprising Result: (#7) William & Mary 9, (#14) Richmond 20 - Trading TDs for field goals doesn't get the job done as the Tribe are denied a seed by the Spiders. At least the rivalry loss didn't cost them a playoff bid like it did the last two years.

Big South

CCU 21-24 LIB
MONM 23-9 GWEBB
CHSO 6-56 BAMA
KENN 6-14 PRESBY

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 20-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 14-8

Best Performance: Liberty 24, (#4) Coastal Carolina 21 - The Flames more than double the Chants in time-of-possession and wonder what could've been if they'd been able to win just one FCS road game.

Worst Performance: Kennesaw St. 6, Presbyterian 14 - The option-based Owls are forced to pass and that fails miserably as they go 4/20 with 2 picks.

Most Surprising Result: Kennesaw St. 6, Presbyterian 14 - A disappointing loss here, but KSU still finishes with a winning record & avoids the Big South basement in their inaugural season.

SoCon

WCU 24-20 VMI
FUR 28-38 WOFF
CIT 23-22 SCAR
SAM 47-21 MER
UTC 13-52 FSU

  • NConf Record: 1-1
    Overall: 17-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 12-6

Best Performance: (#25) The Citadel 23, (FBS) South Carolina 22 - It wasn't quite a must-win, but it's still a huge coup that the Bulldogs were able to outrush an SEC team 350-72 with their season possibly on the line.

Worst Performance: Mercer 21, Samford 48 - The Bears give up 654 yards and allow Samford to score 38 consecutive points in the second half.

Most Surprising Result: Mercer 21, Samford 48 - This was Mercer's only conference game of the year to be decided by more than one score.

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 3-9

Best Performance: NC Central 21, (#16) North Carolina A&T 16 - It wasn't enough for any sort of postseason, but the Eagles can still claim a shared MEAC title after this upset.

Worst Performance: Howard 31, Delaware St. 32 - The Bison allow 32 points to a DSU squad that was averaging 10 ppg in MEAC play.

Most Surprising Result: (#16) North Carolina A&T 16, NC Central 21 - The Aggies' diabolical plan to tank this game and open the door for an FCS playoff bid backfires as they make the Celebration Bowl anyway. ;)

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 0-6

Best Performance: Prairie View A&M 56, Jackson St. 14 - We know what Prairie View's historical reputation is, but this is actually their third 9-win season in the past 8 years.
