NAU @ EWU

Post by dbackjon »

NAU needs this to keep playoff dreams alive.
EWU wants a seed.

Will NAU be able to perform on the road?

Against our D? Of course.

Will it be enough? Probably not, but just barely. :?

This will be the first game I can make it to this year.

NAU has a good secondary, so that match up well personnel wise. Unfortunately, the 'Jacks have sucked on the road thus far.

I know Alford is good, but how are they ranked 11th in the Big Sky in passing D?

They aren't. They're 5th. in efficiency D (9th. in yardage allowed).

NAU's biggest weakness is run defense, and running the ball hasn't exactly been EWU's strong point this year. The game could be interesting if the 'Jacks get over their road issues.

11th in passing D (yards ppg).

PASS DEFENSE G Comp Att Int Pct. Yards Avg. TD Avg/G
1. Montana 7 88 166 4 53.0 1172 7.1 11 167.4
2. Southern Utah 7 110 211 13 52.1 1238 5.9 3 176.9

6. Montana State 7 100 164 2 61.0 1473 9.0 17 210.4

9. Northern Colorado 7 177 281 5 63.0 1805 6.4 12 257.9
10. North Dakota 8 157 257 1 61.1 2190 8.5 24 273.8
11. Northern Arizona 7 157 259 5 60.6 1931 7.5 14 275.9
12. Cal Poly 7 163 251 7 64.9 2021 8.1 17 288.7
13. Sacramento State 8 165 280 8 58.9 2336 8.3 14 292.0

Better in efficiency yes, but they gave up nearly 300 yards to Jadrian Clark and Ben Scott (not exactly a pair of Mannings) and were torched by Prukop.

Still not what I'd consider good.

Refresh your browser on that page. Those are last week's numbers.

Two of those three games you pointed out were both games where they had huge leads and the other team rallied (but never caught up). That might indicative of weak overall pass defense or it might not. Also… Jadrian Clark's efficiency rating was below average in the Weber game (115) while Prukop was really struggling until MSU had to get desperate.

It could be that NAU's pass defense is good in close situations but they get complacent with a big lead. :?:
At any rate, EWU's at home so they should win.
