Not really. Don't know who the transvestite is, but the other two are obviously members of the church. If they're so awful, why haven't they been excommunicated?

I'm not sure you're serious, but do you think inviting a bunch of Sons of Confederate Veterans to meet Nelson Mandela (when he was alive) would have be disrespectful?
Cracka, you crazy.

Disrespectful might be reaching.

The priest is Episcopal and the nun was spared by Francis himself.

It does seem suspicious that these are the people he invited. However, Bart doesn't say who all has been invited. if it's 4/60 people then, eh who cares. If it's only these people and their friends then that's odd. Just my two cents.

Firstly Nelson Mandela would have joyously accepted that meeting - I assure you - he was very cool like that

If you're the living voice of GOD then so what

thirdly
This Pope can handle anything - he's the Bee's Kneez and frankly I think way cool enough to roll with this

How awful!

This is worse than when Jesus stayed at Zacchaeus' house.

Or when Jesus befriended that demonic woman, Mary Magdalene.

10,000 plus for the various receptions these "sinners" were invited too.

Being offended is a sign each person should carefully pay attention to...

To the marginally insane:
1) Getting offended feels good
2) and then helps them assert their moral superiority
3) Now free from any responsibility - because they are offended - they don't have to evaluate the rational world
4) Or be responsible for their own behavior

Being offended is an "out" card

It's not really the "get offended" part about it but the issue is more - out of all of the people who are invited (which is a small number), why invite people that may have different ideological beliefs than the main person you invited? I get he is the President and there are other Congressmen going to this but why turn this into the political/partisan event where the media will make this a big part of the story as opposed to the Pope visiting.

BTW, I also disagree with athletes who turn down the opportunity to visit the White House because of different beliefs than the President. It's a cool opportunity to do something like that. Once again, not a political thing unless someone makes it that way which is stupid.

A lot fewer than that are going to the White House event which is the one we are talking about.

How many? I looked on the interwebs and that is the answer I saw.

Also saw that the guest list hasn't been officially released, just people on social media saying they were invited

The Vatican official – who asked not to be identified – said that officials in Rome were not “overly concerned” that the White House guest list for the pope’s welcome party in Washington included guests that could be considered controversial for the church.

But the person added that it would be the White House, not the Holy See, that would find it embarrassing if the welcome party, which will partly be held on the South Lawn and will include 15,000 guests, looked like a political stunt.

Taking offense is pretty commonplace these days by most everyone, especially politicians. It's what moves the needle anymore. You're either super against something or super for it - very few people stake a position in the middle, or even in the vicinity of the middle, anymore. We're a nation of extremists and therefore we are always offended by the other side.

Really I could care less not Catholic and don't particularly care for the Pope. But I find it amusing that the Obama WH would try to pull a political stunt by inviting bunch of freaks to the Pope's visit.

Well, a senior Vatian official seems to indicate differently than the anonymous one quoted above. The below article, refering referring to the gay bishop, pro abortion nun, and multiple trannies that have been invited:

"Vatican Disputes White House Guest List for Papal Visit
Invitations to transgender activists, first openly gay U.S. Episcopal bishop and activist nun to White House event prompt pushback

According to a senior Vatican official, the Holy See worries that any photos of the pope with these guests at the White House welcoming ceremony next Wednesday could be interpreted as an endorsement of their activities......

....The presence of these figures is especially irritating, the Vatican official said, because it isn’t yet clear if the White House has invited any representatives of the U.S. anti-abortion movement, traditionally a high-priority cause for the U.S. bishops...."
