I'd say the worst performance was by Northwestern State. The reason is that I watched the game and you could see early on that Southeastern Louisiana wasn't going to be "on" throwing the football. So they just decided not to do that and run it and Northwestern State couldn't stop it.
One key moment came after Northwestern State scored to draw within 26-21 and appeared to have momentum. A stop to give the ball back to their offense would've made things very interesting because at that point their offense had started moving the ball. But Southeastern went on a 16 play, 75 yard drive that took 7:48 off the clock and ended with a touchdown with only 1:01 left in the game. All running plays. At one point Northwestern State had Southeastern in a 3rd and 11 at the Northwestern State 37 yard line and gave up a 14 yards on a quarterback keeper.
When you've got the other team in 3rd and 11 and know they haven't shown the ability to pass the ball then give up 11 yards on a quarterback keeper you really have to kick yourself. At least I think so.
If you're a Southeastern Louisiana fan you're really excited about being able to run the ball like that. But if you're a Northwestern State fan you have to be saying "come ON man!"

I felt that Furman played well. That was a tough game and your Defense was tough. There were some great blitzes and stops before the offensive play even begin. You guys pressured Ross pretty damn well. Y'all could have easily won that game. CCU and FU were well matched.

If you're talking about the one near the end of the half, I think that ironically helped the Griz. I'm pretty sure Gustafson was just gonna spike it anyway, so the injury may have saved a down.

Look at the stats. Furman has more total yards, more passing yards (slightly less completion), 7 less rushing attempts for the same amount of yards as CCU (160), 9-60 in penalties to our 9-81, slightly more efficient on 3rd downs, 1-1 on 4th downs (to CCUs 2-3), more time, etc.... The turnovers screwed you guys. Even though we rushed 7 moreplays than you, you guys had 5.2 yds per carry to our 4.2.
Furman is a strong team. Don't let the score fool you.

Fair enough and in this case the D-II PROBABLY was weak. I say "probably" because they've been down recently. But Texas A&M Kingsville has historically been a D-II power.
And you can't assume an opponent is weak because it's D-II. Remember: Eventual D-II champ Colorado State Pueblo beat the crap out of FCS semifinalist Sam Houston State last year. The final score, 47-21, understates the level of Pueblo dominance in that game. They were up 47-7 and Sam Houston State scored a couple of cosmetic TDs in the final 5:37 of the game to make the final score look a little better. And that's not the only example of top D-II teams beating the crap out of I-AA/FCS playoff caliber teams.
"D-II team" does not necessarily mean "weak opponent" from the standpoint of FCS teams.
