You would have had a much better chance if CAA officials would allow a little more physical play. In a women's CAA game if two players get within 4 inches of one another the refs call a foul. The game with Kansas was probably the most physical game the Blue Hens faced all year.93henfan wrote:Ya see, the littledal4018 wrote: Well they didn't beat Kansas the Jayhawks eliminated the Blue Hens.I put at the end was to imply that I was joking. Re: The Official Delaware Women's Basketball Thread
Drexel and Hofstra beat the shit out of EDD (that scab/bruise under her eye was from the CAA championship game), as did Maryland. The refs in the Kansas game actually did a pretty consistent job calling fouls - Jayhawks were allowed to body up on EDD but were called for fouls whenever they grabbed her on entry passes. It just seemed that the near constant national attention on EDD and her family, not to mention the extra long season (with the World University games over the summer), finally caught up to her.TheDancinMonarch wrote:You would have had a much better chance if CAA officials would allow a little more physical play. NEWARK, Del. -- Delaware All-American Elena Delle Donne will not be at full strength when her team opens the regular season.
Delle Donne told espnW she is suffering from a recurrence of Lyme disease, which she initially contracted in 2008.
A previous recurrence of the bacterial disease that initially went undiagnosed during the 2010-11 season led her to miss 12 games that season.
The 6-foot-5 forward led Delaware to a 31-2 record last season and averaged 28.1 points per game, a mark that led the nation by more than four points per game.
She was recently named a unanimous first-team preseason All-American by The Associated Press, becoming one of just 10 unanimous preseason selections.

It's like the NCAA Womens basketball version of War of the Worlds. Opposing defenses can't stop her, but a microscopic disease can.89Hen wrote:http://espn.go.com/womens-college-baske ... e-flare-up

That historically bad UD team was one blown PI call away from beating your FBS-bound squad.CAA Flagship wrote:93henfan wrote:ODU

Moved up to #20 in this weeks AP, biggest jump in the entire poll. Continuing to punish an overmatched CAA night-in & night-out. Just positioning for March at this point.

Whoops! JMU and Drexel took them down to the wire.93henfan wrote:Not as long as EDD is healthy.bluehenbillk wrote:Will they even have a close CAA game?
They should win the CAA title...but they are not a well rounded nor quick team.
I hope they get to the Final Four, but that won't realistically happen. Sweet Sixteen might not happen either unless our guards step up and learn how to shoot and defend the 3.
Someone on GoHens put up the bios of some of our 2013-2014 recruits...seems they all need to work on their outside shots.
Imagine that.
Oh, guess it is time to change my signature. Destiny isn't our density anymore.
