Will your poll voting change with expansion next year?

Post by putter »

I was looking at the various polls and started thinking about 2010. When the NEC and BS get their Auto-bids will you be more apt to rank the respective teams in those conferences higher? This year the BS is getting some love for Liberty and Albany has received votes in the past but most have not been that impressive to rank them in the top 20. Due to the fact that they get the AQ, will you give them more love and do you think arguments will occur next year when two AQ's could get into the playoffs without them being ranked in the top 25?

It has to matter. How else can people explain voting for Patriot League teams right now and not Albany, Central and Liberty?

In fact, people on *** have blatantly come out and said that if there are two teams equal they give the nod to a team from an AQ conference over the non-AQ.

Makes no sense to me, but I know it happens now.

Yea, I agree dane. If the team is going to get an AQ, my guess is that they will gravitate to around 16 at the lowest by the end of the season, unless they just have a bad year but still win the conference. It will be interesting to see how much weight voters give the AQ.

No. However, if they do well in the playoffs, then yes for 2011... just like any other conference. I don't give any benefit to the OVC, MEAC or PL right now other than SCSt played App well last year in the playoffs so they do get a little more juice this year.

No, the expansion will have no affect on my vote. I rank who I feel are the top 25 teams regardless of conference, playoff eligibility, etc.

And that could be the rub. You could have two teams participating in the playoffs who are not even ranked in the top 25.

Maybe...moreso due to giving more thought to positions 17-25....

So you didn't vote Colgate and Holy Cross in your top 25?

No.

The AQ system serves it purpose without any further help from already-biased homer-voters.

it won't make a difference to me either. If I think someones is at 25 or not in at all I don't care that they will be in the playoffs due to a AQ. It may make you look a little more closely at them because they are AQ though as I don't pay as much attention to the ones that ain't gonna be in the playoffs unless they do something good against a big conference team.

Nope. Normally when I look at who to rank it isn't really based on name so much as how they have played and stats. However, if all things are equal I would give the higher nod to a team with more history (not meaning AQ conference though) than a team that is new to success.

Doesn't matter to me. I don't have ANY teams from those three conferences in my poll.
