I suspect you'd get some debate on BobcatNation whether this is the most talented team ever out of MSU, let alone posting that it's one of the best ever out of the Big Sky on this board.

There's just no way to prove your opinion. I wasn't there for the '56 or '76 teams so I don't feel qualified to offer an opinion on those. I was there for the '84 team and I'd have a hard time deciding which is more talented. Different types of talent shine in different offensive/defensive schemes, etc.

Despite all that, I generally agree with you that this is a remarkable team. The recruiting has been great in recent years; we have a chance to be among the top teams, if not dominant, in the Big Sky for the next few years or beyond and so on. I'm having a great time rooting for my Bobcats this year.
I understand what you getting it is nearly impossible to compare the 2 teams, I've seen film on the 1984 cats when i played high school FB, mostly because 2 of the defensive stars, the Timmer brothers, are from my hometown. 1984's D was really stout all the time, the O had games where they struggled. But they got it done, and with a team that was 1-6 in conference play a year prior.

One thing i tried to stray from in that post was that this team is better than 1984, until they win the big one this is false. but raw talent which I realize doesn't win football games, i still think is better and does actually give us a shot to play with anyone in the FCS.

My biggest worry...is whether or not Weber decides to play a full game and also, if the Co-DCs actually put together a game plan where they focus on limiting the affects of the SUU QB. Give him time, he will destroy us, put pressure on him, hurry him, and put him on his back; Weber will win this game by a bunch.

BINGO, we saw what happened to a QB who had zero time to throw the ball, Yost was getting hit all night, Of course SUU and ISU are on a differnt level, but the objective is still the same, PRESSURE THE QB, and give yourselves a chance to win.
I would say Hoke and Sorenson are the two best college QBs in Utah right now, although Chuckie has more long term upside, in my opinion. The QBs at Utah and BYU don't compare. Snow can't decide between the sophomore Eastman and the freshman Harrison--still they are undefeated and ranked in the NJCAA top ten playing two QBs. DSC's Stevenson and Cantwell both have played very well at times, but they are behind the most shaky line in Utah and it is hard to do anything when you are sacked 9 times a game.

But, back to Hoke and Sorenson--both very good QBs. But, Sorenson has an advantage being behind what could be the best offensive line in the state (although Utah and BYU might disagree). In the SUU games I have watched, I have seen very little pressure at all on Sorenson. All 5 were returning starters and they seem to play very well together. SUU's weakness is its defense. Here, I think Weber is stronger. It will be an interesting match up between the Weber defensive line and line backers and the SUU offensive line. I think the match up between Weber's defensive line and SUU's offensive line will decide the outcome. If one can dominate, that is. If not, I suspect a special teams failure will decide the game.

Our defense makes us a way better team than last year but still has shown fatigue late. our O has found ways to be explosive at any time during the game. Ash likes to build leads and sits on them, he's done this on almost every single game, except UU and EWU. the rest of teams we've played they could have easily put up 50-60pts.

Honest Question, do think this Montana State team should be taken lightly by anyone in FCS?
I doubt you will find NDSU trembling in their boots.

Montana over Northern Arizona

Southern Utah University over Northern Utah University in a close one--heck the south won the first few battles in the real civil war.

Portland State over Willamete. Bearcats don't put up 49 points this time (like they have in their last two games).

Eastern Washington over Sacramento State. Close game, could go either way.

BYU follows up its road victory over Oregon State with a home victory over Idaho State. Cougar fans will declare that their quest for the national championship is back on track.

This game wont be SUU's Gettysburgh :D
Perhaps, but a couple of battles of Manassas, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville happened before Gettysburg. Won't be much of a civil war if you get to the mid-point right away ;>)

I doubt it too, but Pflugrad is shitting his pants at the thought of ending another year at the hands of the Cats.

Other than that play Lobato has been playing great, considering the holes his team are putting him in. He's caught two or three high/bad snaps that have gone over his head. And just now, throws an impressive TD on 3rd and a mile/goal right before halftime. 17-10 MSU.

Yeah, he's a decent QB that just doesn't have a lot of weapons. They have some serious Center-QB issues in this game that I don't remember they having last week. MSU is bringing a ton of heat, though.

McGhee picked off again. :coffee:

MSU's weakness is their secondary. I've noticed quite a few times this season where they've got beaten and had to resort to PI's to save a big play.

Sloppy, yes, but there have been glimpses of good play. Bobcats better wake up. They are in a game now.

Maybe if we keep that up for another 10 years or so we can take a turn playing the role of crybaby bitches. Waah Bobcat fans are so arrogant, lets burn a Champ effigy and feel better
