Kemp is one of the guys who always leads the team in potential. But his deliverables have been such that he is easily replaceable.

The demise of the Griz is being greatly overestimated by the wannabes. It will be business as usual for Montana football this fall. Best stay out of their way; there is a chip on the shoulder.

I'm predicting the Griz finish no better than 4th. Right behind MSU, EWU and PSU.

A lot of people were predicting a similar finish last year. New-ish head coach, unproven QB, etc etc. Only time will tell.

New head coach, new coordinators on both side of the ball, replacing 8 starters on defense. Those I believe are sufficient reasons. I like what the other three teams are returning. PSU will be a big factor. They improved by 5 more games last year and Burton is a hell of a recruiter.

I dont really have a problem with PSU being in the discussion over who will contend for the title, but just thought CP need to be in there too.

SUU is another that may contend too, but I don't know enough about them other than they have a damn good qb

SUU has a brutal schedule. Opening with two losses (Utah State & Cal), then they're @ PSU, have MSU and Sac State at home, go to UM, then have Weber and EWU at home, then go TO UND and TO NAU. Honestly, I can see SUU going 3-5 in conference. Very easily.

NAU has a slightly easier path, finishing up the season at home against UC Davis, @ UNC, @ ISU, and at home against SUU and CP.

CP has the easiest schedule in the BSC, having to play NEITHER Montana nor MSU and opening against non-scholly San Diego.

SUU did beat Weber St last year AT Weber... also beat NAU in Flagstaff. But yes, SUU does have a brutal path to travel this year indeed. Should be interesting to see how they can contend this first year. QB is great but I also hand respect to both O and D lines... and most of all, to Coach Lamb. That guy has amazed me 5 years in a row since he arrived in Southern Utah. I hope we don't lose him... he did just sign another 5 year extension at the end of last year though. Go Lamb

Kemp had tons of potential and he has been an asset to the team in certain situations. However, his loss would not be a huge hit to the team. Setting the standards to be followed by the leadership of this team is much more important in my view.

Losing JJ will be a huge loss to the team because it will take them 3 or 4 games to get the next QB settled into the position. The non-confernce games are winnable but by no means assured. Playing ASU at home is very difficult even with the issues they are dealing with.

That being said, this Griz team has a lot of talent returning and a stable of running backs to work with. The returners had lots of reps last year so even though it appears that the Griz lost a lot through graduation (which they did), the replacements will step up. This coaching staff will untiilize the players they have to the best of their stengths.
I look for a good season record even though it will not come easy by any means.

I think those type of numbers are to be expected with a team running the pistol. both were good players but Burton has PSU on a rising plane and I think they will be a contender this year.

Or will the Soph QB, Milholland, run the show? He's a better runner, apparently. Will the DL hold up? The CBs look good, but what about the S and SS? Our backfield is suspect, until proven otherwise. Our special team is fine. You can expect at leasxt 2-3 field goals per game.
