Best Performance: Weber St. 41, (#24) Montana 27 - Weber's offense did absolutely nothing in the second half, but their 5-0 turnover advantage for the game made that unimportant.
Worst Performance: Portland St. 21, North Dakota 48 - The spiraling Viks take a 14-0 lead, then proceed to piss down their legs for the remaining 47 minutes.
Most Surprising Result: North Dakota 48, Portland St. 21 - It's been a trying year for the Fighting Hawks, but their 48 points here—and earlier against Northern Colorado—is more than they scored in any game over the previous 3 seasons.

Most Surprising Result: (#20) McNeese St. 17, (#4) Central Arkansas 47 - The Cowboys still figure to make the playoffs as long as they avoid a total collapse, but I'm not sure they really deserve to.
Best Performance: (#11) South Dakota St. 52, (#12) Western Illinois 24 - Taryn Christion throws for 386 yards and 5 touchdowns in a surprising Jackrabbit rout.

Most Surprising Result: Tennessee St. 26, Tennessee Tech 30 - Under Rod Reed, TSU is 25-10 in August/September compared to just 22-31 after September.

Most Surprising Result: (#20) McNeese St. 17, (#4) Central Arkansas 47 - The Cowboys still figure to make the playoffs as long as they avoid a total collapse, but I'm not sure they really deserve to.
Even if they finish 9-2 I don't think they will unless Nicholls State loses at least one. And Nicholls State might have to lose two because one of their losses is a competitive loss to Texas A&M.
I said at the beginning that losing to Nicholls State in a game they physically dominated really put them in bad position due to how weak their schedule is.
I can't see more than 3 from the Southland getting in and if it comes down to between McNeese and Nicholls State Nicholls State has the head to head.
The sad thing is that in both losses the opponent couldn't move the ball consistently against McNeese but got big plays in the passing game. 2 long TD passes for Nicholls State and 3 for Central Arkansas. Like I wrote in another thread Central Arkansas got 157 yards on three long TD passes and just 166 on their other 48 plays. They couldn't run the ball. 75 yards on 35 attempts. They only had 11 first downs.
Add a scoop and score for a defensive touchdown and a blocked punt returned for another touchdown and you get the blowout. VERY disappointing because it was obvious that Central Arkansas was a beatable team from McNeese's standpoint. A beatable team that just beat you 47-17.

You nailed it. JMU defense with 9 starters back + 3 P5 transfers, has been has been downright nasty. UNH came into the game averaging 30 points & 423 yards (284 passing/139 rushing) of offense. Yep, the JMU offense has been average at best in CAA play. Lost 6 starters from last year's teams 3 and more for the season going back to the summer Have had a # of key guys miss 1 to 4 games due to injury, illness, or suspension. OL has struggled . Off last years Lost 3 senior starters, including an AA and an All CAA. 2 more lost for the season - a would be starter in Aug and an OG who started the 1st 4 games. Last weekend the 1st half vs UNH the pre season AA LT went down. Tried to come back second half for 1 series. Status next week uncertain.
