Kupp passed for two touchdowns and returned a punt for another. And again, against superior competition.
Add up all the yards Kupp accounted for passing, receiving, rushing, and returning and all the points he accounted for in those ways. Do the same for Harrington. You will find that Harrington accounted for more yards by a substantial margin and more points by a substantial margin.

And if Kupp's overall competition was superior it wasn't by much. There's not that much difference between the Big Sky and the Southland.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

There's more to it than just yards.

Harrington had over half the rushing attempts on a team that only had 158 passing attempts on the season. Kupp had 114 receptions out of a total of 281 on a team that another reciever (Bourne) caught 73 passes, and that also ran the ball 326 times.

In comparing the conferences...after doing some research...you could be right when it comes to defense. But the overall level of competition especially considering schedule strength is noticeable.

This fcsawards.com outfit appears to be even more shady than I thought.

(Mazzolini is the current Griz FB beat writer, DC is Derek Crittenden).

What's up with the asterisk?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Smug Prick checking in on this thread...

Kade Harrington
is a fine FCS football player
who will probably make somebodies practice squad in the NFL and then quietly disappear
only to exist in some ledger on an excel document about total yards in FCS

Kupp will play on Sunday for about a decade
take a thousand NFL snaps
and have a meaningful football career

Ah. OK. A bit hard to find amidst all the bickering between the Sky folk and everyone else, but I finally saw the note about the different awards bearing the name.

Harrington also did very little against the top-2 defenses he played against (McNeese & Baylor).

Kupp averaged 170 ypg against the top-4 defenses he faced (Oregon, UNI, Montana, Portland State).
He had 116 yds against us...
