Doing the same thing over and over again... expecting different results

Post by CID1990 »

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/26/worl ... .html?_r=0

In the NYT link we see that Russia is meddling in Montenegro's politics. Because that's what they do - they meddle in ways that they believe are in their national interests

What does Montenegro have in common with other nations where the Russians are causing problems? They're trying to join NATO. An organization that at any moment could come under the sway of nationalist European (or American) governments - an organization founded for the express purpose to fight Russia (I know, I know, defensive.... but it still signifies a large standing army on European soil, and missions/intents have a way of changing and the Russians know this well)

So another member of NATO only makes NATO stronger, right? Plus, it is in the American interest to enter into a mutual defense (hah hah hah like Montenegro is coming to OUR aid) treaty with a country that has a military smaller than the CA national guard, and zero strategic interests as far as we are concerned, right? Makes total sense!

So here's John Fvcking Cold War McCain:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... putin.html

This is what stupidity looks like, folks.

McCain
Clinton
Graham
Obama
Bush

The list is long and exhaustive, but that's the most recent Who's Who of the Pax Americana World Police For Freedom, FOR FREE cabal

This is why the Russians hate us. We are STILL spiking the ball, and it's as if none of these elected morons have ever read a damn book, stepped out of their own ego bubbles to consider why the Russians behave the way they do

We need to pull the plug on NATO like yesterday because we can't resist the tug of stupidity it installs in people who are supposed to know better

Personally I can't wait to be flashed into ash over fvcking Montenegro

John McCain served his country and served time as a POW. I respect him for that. But he can only play that card so many times and he has used those times up. Time for him to go away. :ohno:

And he can take his lapdog Graham with him.

I agree and don't think NATO should ever have expanded into post Soviet states.

But...

That's a pretty incongruent point you're making there- and in fact it amplifies my point - NATO members that participated in that activation essentially did nothing except scoot around the Mediterranean in a few frigates

Quite intimidating

Eh. They've done more than putter around in a frigate.

Estonia has lost 9 soldiers.

You'll say that's not a lot. They only have a population of 1.3 million. That's over 2,000 dead in a population of 300,000,000... similar to the US's and Great Britain's losses.

I see you are now trolling

It is not in our strategic interest to be in a mutual defense pact with any country in Europe

Because our strategic interests lie in other places

We have questionable MD treaties in Asia as well, but they are more in our strategic interests.

Europe is basically Qatar without the oil -

All I know is that those countries along the Adriatic have some gorgeous looking landscapes, seascapes, medieval towns, cathedrals, and shit. The cuisine sounds amazing too.

Maybe they should have strong defense capabilities so they can always have those nice things

Maybe NATO will go the way of SEATO. And ANZUS is now basically AUS, so there's that.

I take it that you favor -- if anything -- bilateral "defense" pacts between the US and "strategic" Asian allies to protect our interests. We still have them with South Korea and Japan, I gather. And there's a lot of "wiggle room" in those treaties.

That's pretty much it.

I am not a fan of inertia as it exists in government and in foreign relations. The world changes and we need to get into the habit of reassessing constantly, instead of falling into costly paradigms. John McCain is the antithesis of this. He's like a Lost Causer, still fighting Gettysburg 150 years later.

After John McCain, speaking on the Senate floor yesterday, accused Paul of “working for Vladimir Putin,” Paul had a crushing comeback on today’s Morning Joe.

Said Paul of McCain, “he makes a really, really strong case for term limits. I think maybe he’s past his prime. I think maybe he’s gotten a little bit unhinged.”

Ron Paul? No, Ron was a Congressman for closer to 20 years than 40 and stepped down to run for POTUS. And those 20 years weren't in a row either.

Masturbating
Taking a dump after drinking a 6-pack of Guiness
Rooting for Torson State to win a meaningful football game
Buying a lottery ticket
Reading any posts by JSO concerning children and/or pets
