I doubt it. What is Aleppo, who's the president of Mexico, couldn't name a SCOTUS justice he liked, etc. They might be in the same boat.

In our current system voting 3rd party is a waste of a vote. Yes, we need more parties. But right now voting 3rd party is throwing your vote away.

The only vote that is "wasted" is one that is not used.

It is America and you are afforded the right to vote, nowhere does it say you are forced to vote for 2 parties. If more people used their heads and only voted for 3rd or 4th parties shit would change in a heartbeat. We get what we vote for but no vote that is used is a waste.

In Russia, voting 2nd party can get you killed. So there's that. 8-)

This.

There's a good chunk of the electorate that are establishment media driven and as a result relatively uninformed. They don't realize they truly have other viable options. This could literally change in one election cycle.

Voted Gary Johnson due to living in solid blue Washington, but if Trump would have been in play, I would have voted Trump.

It won't - because there are other forces in play other than just people not knowing they have a choice

I had a colleague - a Public Diplomacy tracked Fireign Service Officer (these are people who are supposed to be able to "explain America" to foreign audiences) who told me a vote for Johnson was IMMORAL (next stop.... EVIL.. whoot whoot) because only a vote for Hillary could be considered a vote against Trump

But you're right about the media- they are stuck in the two choice only paradigm and therefore so are their audiences. Add to that the death of civics and American history in schools and the future is not bright.

You have to vote 3rd Party to get them to matter. Of course you think voting for a 3rd party is useless, people won't participate in droves to make them matter.

Right now, in a Presidential election, it does not matter. This has to start at a much lower level. The third party has to gain traction at the State level and work it's way up to the National level.

I live in Illinois where the electoral votes are going blue regardless of how I vote. In this situation a 3rd party vote is actually more effective than a Rep (or Dem) vote because it sends a message that I'm not drinking the Rep ((or Dem) kool-aid and they better do something different if they want my vote.

I would have vote for GJ regardless because his positions were more closely aligned with mine than any other candidate's.

Yep. I would even argue it has to start at the local level. Arguing we need a 3rd party and then only voting 3rd party once every 4 years at the POTUS level is worthless. How many people who argued we need a 3rd party and voted Johnson voted 3rd party in their local and state elections?

To me, it has to start locally. You need them in state houses, mayors offices, legislatures, etc...All that needs to happen before they get a realistic shot at the White House. :thumb: I always vote for Libertarian at the state/local level.

For all of you'all talking about voting 3rd party for POTUS, Trump was 3rd party in a sense. He was just running under the republican banner.
