I think this is a perfect example of where the death penalty should have been used. And no, I am not joking. The boyfriend should be terminated and the mother put in jail for life.Ibanez wrote:You would think. I think I posted the story on here about how my neighbor was allowing her boyfriend to molest the 8 year old daughter and beat the 4 yr old boy. He was put in a medium security prison, until he was nearly beaten to death for being a child molester. He's now at the high security facility about 20 miles up the road from me. Of course, low-medium-high security prisons are very offenders at different levels of sentencing and crimes.89Hen wrote: That should be your signature line.![]()

But what you're saying here is that a rapist/murderer shouldn't be in a cushy prision. I'm pretty sure they won't be in the minumum security Holiday Inns you've described.
I feel that you missed the point: prisons should be more like Shawshank, regardless of the crime.
But without the buttsects and abusive guards.
What is even sadder is, here in Utah with the new pet laws they passed, it is entirely possible to be charged with a higher degree felony for beating someone's dog than a child.

6 Months of jail for beating a dog............... While I don't condone beating animals, I just feel like we protect them better than our own children.

Nazi leadership wasn't mentally ill and how many million did they kill?89Hen wrote:Honest question. Don't you think pretty much anyone who could commit such heinous crimes is mentally ill?CID1990 wrote:
Mental illness, in theory, has long been a mitigating circumstance in death penalty cases.
There have been some nuts who have been put down I am sure, but generally speaking if the defense team can substantiate mental illness (and it really isn't that hard to do), then the death penalty isn't going to be used.
And regarding the mentally ill who do kill, fuck them. They should be executed. I don't care what mental state you were in. You pay the price.

Botched? What do you mean botched? He was sentenced to death. He's now dead. Seemed to work fine to me. Did his victim die gently?

I think we should have one squad that goes and does it. Of course, nobody will know if they are firing blanks or the real bullet. Think of the time/cost savings. One well played shot in the chest.

You aren't supposed to rape and/or kill people either. In the end, he put himself in the position of being executed. If there was a small glitch...oh well...sh*t happens.Ibanez wrote:Don't be obtuse. The majority of executions go swimmingly well. Complaining about one that has a slight glitch, and using that as a reason to eliminate executions, is similar to wanting to ban highways because of a few accidents.

I do in Utah, I can show you cases. We passed some stupid laws on companion animals and have not updated our laws on children. You truly would get more time in jail for beating an animal than you would a child in Utah with how the laws are today.89Hen wrote:You don't honestly think animals are better protected than children.
