Is it a part of their curriculum? Please provide an example. Who's writing the curriculum?
Or are they teaching to respect others regardless of gender ID?
What grade is this occurring at?
Gender reassignment procedures for kids is a problem. I totally agree with that.
If gender dysphoria is a serious mental illness, can it not also be relieved by a culture being ok with gender selection? In other words, you be you and as long as you don't infringe on my rights, we're cool.
Some chicks are more like dudes and vice versa. Government legislating "morality" is a slippery slope.
After all, narcissistic conservative sociopathy can also be considered a mental illness...........
Yes, in some districts it is part of the curriculum. The authors are the usual activist suspects.
I'm sure they are teaching to respect others, but they are also incorrectly teaching that there are multiple genders, gender is a choice and gender is fluid.
If gender dysphoria is a mental illness, why would anyone be OK with gender selection? Gender selection is simply acting out a mental illness. Why should we acquiesce to the demands of the mentally ill?
Some on the fringe are actually advocating making refusal to use the pronoun of choice a crime. You can already be banned on Twitter for claiming there are only two genders. In Canada, you can be prosecuted in some locations if you refuse to use the pronoun of choice. People have actually lost their jobs for refusing to acknowledge the fluidity of gender or failing to use the pronoun of choice.
Narcissism and sociopathy are mental illnesses, whether the mentally ill person in question is conservative or progressive.

I'm starting to think you didn't even read it, and if you did, obviously didn't understand it.Furthermore, biology is not as straightforward as the proposal suggests. By some estimates, as many as one in 100 people have differences or disorders of sex development, such as hormonal conditions, genetic changes or anatomical ambiguities, some of which mean that their genitalia cannot clearly be classified as male or female. For most of the twentieth century, doctors would often surgically alter an infant’s ambiguous genitals to match whichever sex was easier, and expect the child to adapt. Frequently, they were wrong. A 2004 study tracked 14 genetically male children given female genitalia; 8 ended up identifying as male, and the surgical intervention caused them great distress (W. G. Reiner and J. P. Gearhart N. Engl. J. Med. 350, 333–341; 2004).
Even more scientifically complex is a mismatch between gender and the sex on a person’s birth certificate. Some evidence suggests that transgender identity has genetic or hormonal roots, but its exact biological correlates are unclear. Whatever the cause, organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics advise physicians to treat people according to their preferred gender, regardless of appearance or genetics.
The research and medical community now sees sex as more complex than male and female, and gender as a spectrum that includes transgender people and those who identify as neither male nor female. The US administration’s proposal would ignore that expert consensus.

Again, you and Cgrad are gender confused. It’s a spectrum. Some plumbing is hard to discern. Some gets changed. That’s sex.
Gender is more culturally/psychology based. Not a hard science.
Regardless, we don’t need government involved. Turn in your libertarian cards.
Aside from the extreme and rare outlier, males, boys, men, hes have one X and one Y chromosome while females, girls, women, shes have two X chromosomes. That is basic biology...true and undeniable science. There are no amount of drugs, surgery, wishing on a star, praying over pixie dust farted out of a unicorn ass that will change that basic law of science.

You say government should stay out of the gender assignment business but all you are doing here is paraphrasing Treep - suggesting that if society was accepting of gender dysphorics, they’d be just fine (and their high suicide rates would go down?)
The next logical step to your suggestion is for government to set up guidelines for gender......

I'm open to science adjusting what we think and know about something...but so far it doesn't seem like anything is conclusive.
Side note - humans have existed roughly 200k years and we're now talking about " Well, I may look, talk, piss, make love and act like a lady but deep down inside...i'm all man." Interesting.

Of course...with a huge assist from drugs. I have two in-laws diagnosed with it, another in-law who is bi-polar and my most trusted employee and friend who is bi-polar. The one's that have owned it thrive and society understanding the condition relieves their issues to a certain extent.

Yeah that's the right kind of response (in my opinion) to too much government
the problem is - the only way we're going to actually get less government is if we cut the budget
We can't keep spending 15% more year-over-year and expect "less government"
