Just laying out how BuzzFeed publishes it's story, Dems say they have to investigate, then this, then that.

He's been on record since last year.

Right - but he says the focus is to subpoena the President. That’s not a power Congress has to my knowledge - at least not in this context

Really, though? What kind of threats? I saw the mentions about Cohen's father-in-law but how do those rise to the level of threats? If there are threats, it should be an open and shut case - I assume Cohen is wiretapped since he's going to prison in a couple of months and he's still an active part of Mueller's investigation. If there were phone calls or e-mails or such it should be pretty easy to see that.

More than likely, Cohen's not going to testify because the House was told he wouldn't be able to answer any questions regarding anything to do with the Mueller investigation, and since that's a pretty big umbrella, what were they going to talk about then?

Nah, just going off of what Cohen's own lawyer has said he's going to be able to answer, and that was when Cohen was anxious to appear. I suspect a lot of pleads to take the 5th or whatever else is necessary to avoid interfering with Mueller's case.

What details do we know about that? Not much. Maybe Mueller or SDNY don't want him to talk about that stuff either, but that isn't at all clear.


If this were one of the House Committees run by Democrats, it would look a lot more like grandstanding.

Richard Burr had to be the one to sign the subpoena. I really don't think he's grandstanding. Cohen plead guilty to lying to his committee... As chairman he has every perogative, and really a duty, to bring someone back in who willfully lied to his committee.
