The part I like about Trip’s posts are that it reminds me of a critical period I passed through at the end of 9th grade and a few months into 10th where I thought socialism might be a good idea. We were under a Republican president who was doing great things (of which I was not willing to acknowledge at the time) but being portrayed by the MSM as Satan reborn.

I think most of us understand your fundamental reasons, at least I do.
But let's talk about the specific change and debate what the outcome would be compared to the current situation.
I think you will find that most people would acknowledge that improvement is needed. But it requires only a tweak rather than going in a complete different direction because of the consequences associated with it.

I would urge you to stay and not “reflect,study” in a vacuum. By arguing your position, you can alter it, strengthen it or abandon it as you hear from the opposition and take their views and experiences into account.

A group of adults helping shepherd us through a period with an ineffective president isn't "undermining" the government--it's part of the checks and balances that have helped this country survive and thrive through a LOT worse than Donald Trump. There's been social and economic "injustice" since about oh, the big bang happened, so making yourself sick over it isn't going to help you OR them. At the end of the day, THIS country, using THIS general political system, provide for a human beings' best chance at success, no matter WHAT their lot in life the day they're born. That's been proven time and time and time again.

You shouldn't let your beliefs eat you up....everybody wants this nation to be the best it can, but views on how to get there are going to differ...and differ greatly. That's human nature. Trump matters little to me; he's an idiot and will be remembered as such. But the NYT op-ed published today should concern every American - someone in the administration is saying that things have become so bad, they're operating a shadow government of unelected officials to keep things going.

As much as I dislike Trump, that's literally a coup. Think about that: a coup is happening in the most powerful nation in the world, GOP operatives are leading it, and a Republican Congress is turning a blind eye.

Today's NYT op-ed is a helluva historic document for the ages.

As an American you should be worried about what your party is doing...and they've been doing this for years but conservatives have been too blind to see it. Hell, AZ would already be out there shooting up the place if Democrats tried to pull a coup off, and here we have someone openly admitting a shadow GOP government is operating behind the scenes (oh the irony).

Can say this thread is why I started reading this site in the first place. Lots of different perspectives and ideas from people in all walks of life. Most people grow and change as they go through life, as long as they keep an open mind and not get too fixated on a particular thought process or idea.

My thoughts as well. The only thing the topic of the article was there for is to get a specific reaction, whether that is the general public or Trump himself. That and somebody angling for a future book deal.
