The Jewish community isn't a monolith - either politically in terms of votes or in terms of donations. While AIPAC won't love this - they haven't been with the Dems in a long time. They weren't with Obama in 08... so not a lot to miss there... More moderate elements likely won't be swayed by this so much as they will by other things.

Well, Obama did get 78% of the Jewish vote in 08'. He will be hard pressed to come close to that in 12'. And that will have an impact on one of the biggest swing states, FL, with a high Jewish population. WSJ had an article yesterday:

Happens frequently. The AIPAC portion of the Israel lobby exerts a great deal of energy in insisting that it somehow holds sway over every Jewish vote and dollar... they don't... but they bully their way around like they do. Whenever a pol crosses them - they lash out JUST LIKE THIS... nothing new under the sun.

Do I think Obama will take a hit? sure. do i think he won't pull 78%? of course not. He'll pull 65%... and while it will hurt him in Florida - his re-elect math doesn't look like it will even require Florida.

I'm all for supporting the only true democracy in the middle east, just not with our tax dollars. I do not think that it is up to the United States to ensure the survival of the Israeli State anymore than it is our responsibility to assist any other country in that regard. It's not about being for the Israelis and against the Arabs or vice versa. We have serious problems of our own that need to be tended to, and we are broke. There is no frickin money. It's time we spent our tax dollars on solving some real problems in our own country and let the rest of the world sort their own shit out.
