Tell that to those on Medicare and Medicaid. Tell that to all the other countries with Socialized/One Provider medical plans. Tell that to all the other countries that pay less for their prescriptions. Tell that to someone who has been bankrupted by their current medical coverage. Tell that to someone who has been denied treatment by their insurer.

I'm not saying the current state of the American health system is in shambles, there are plenty of things that we do better than the rest of the world. We get new/helpful drugs quicker, our doctors use new techniques more often and faster than the rest of the world. What I'm saying is something needs to be done, either by the government or the insurance companies themselves. The cases of those who have been denied coverage by their insurance company is absolutely grotesque and inhumane. Maybe socialized/universal health care isn't the answer, but I don't see the insurance companies changing any time soon and I don't see the dozens of countries with a universal health care plan struggling.

How much in taxes do you want to pay to get cheaper prescriptions? Let's make the tax rate 100% and then everything will be free. Except that there won't be anything to have.

How about we use as much hyperbole as humanly possible, that way it'll seem like we're actually making valid points. :coffee:

They most certainly CAN ruin my life.

They NEVER do good.......except for those that follow their f*cked up doctrine.

Glad you pointed out this single monetary issue and don't care about the ones that deal with people who have paid for their private insurance who are being refused medical treatment and being put into massive debt. good to see ya care. :thumb:

How much do you pay for your private coverage? Prescriptions, surgery, exams, etc? The average American doesn't have a 100% Copay. Factor in these cost

I pay $1247 and change per month for a familly package (2 people). I look forward to paying more and getting less. I don't have 100% co-pay either.

Right about what the average American pays. Honest no BS question because I'm still trying to figure this out myself, but what makes you think you will be paying more and receiving less?

Agreed.

Conservatives as a rule DO NOT support elimination of govt. assistance. Many disadvantaged people NEED assistance, and I have never had a problem paying taxes that are used to assist those people. What conservatives DO want is reform to eliminate the obscene abuse of govt. assistance, and govt. intervention which drives up the costs of providing services and assistance by NGO's and the private sector.

Cheering the passage of this abortion of legislative reason, is akin to a faux-conservative's support of a bill designed to overtly harm the disadvantaged.

Dude, you just blew away any other valid poiint in your argument by spewing BS....you shoud have stated instead,:

"Wait until you or a relative is declared not worthy of saving and are told they're current policy doesn't cover that life-saving procedure (probably due to cost)."

But, that would have undermined your argument as that is our current healthcare policy.....

What the House passed was crap, and the ultimate bill we end up with will be watered down crap. But be against it because of costs, too much government, etc...not because of the "Death Panels"....makes you look ignorant as hell.....

I dont want ANY form of government health care passed. Watered down or not.

It just gives the government too much power to regulate guns, autos, food, etc...............and that is on top of the fact they cant run anything right.

The government should be able to protect its people against predatory business. But when the government becomes all-powerful who will protect us from the government?

If you choose to delude yourself into believing that this health care plan will be all things to all people, and have no cost, monetary or otherwise, then I am sure there is nothing I can say to disabuse you of that notion. We should be intelligent enough to look at the history of such things and the English and Canadian examples are good. We will not be "pulling the plug" on Grandma in 2013. But what about in 2040? Or 2050? As the population rises and resources diminish, isn't there just the remotest of possibilities that such decisions might be coming. But no, instead of thinking about that, let's figure out how to soak the rich and make them pay for our "stuff" in payment for offenses they committed, real or imagined.

For my part, I do not want to turn over my personal freedom to a bunch of politicians. The main thrust behind this push is to further empower them. If such a plan were so good it would be voluntary and we all couldn't wait to sign up. But will it be? No it won't. And just consider this. The current plan as passed by the House Saturday does NOT cover all people. Gee I wonder why that would be since the idea is a universal plan. I mean they are starting from scratch with over 2000 pages. Do you think that is might have something to do with the fact that there will be another election down the road and it's always good to have a ready made issue. The bottom line for me is that if y'all were just doing this to yourselves then I could care less. But you will force me into your madness and about that I do care.
