In this case, I believe it was Clark County which includes Vegas, but I'm still guessing they don't count on having to shift a massive amount of resources out of the high crime urban areas. Besides, this is federal land and while the case for using federal marshals and the FBI makes a bit of sense, there's also something to be said for the BLM being more familiar with the land they manage. Also keep in mind that each of these agencies by necessity have a law enforcement wing due to real threats to agents in the field. Some of them have been murdered in the past. Then, there's also the militarization desires of every law enforcement agency. They all want to be top cop and have the fancy gadgets.
You sound like a teen operative Organizing for America.

There is no "necessity" that agencies have an enforcement staff of paramilitary agents.: That's why we have mutual aid policies. I.e., leave it to the professionals.

Furthermore, your assertion of "murdered" agents is unsupported hyperbole

Stupid conk fvck. :ohno:

Wounded Knee? Leonard Peltier?
Both incidents were initiated by civilians (Native Americans), who had committed violent crimes (robbery, kidnapping, attempted murder) and federal Law Enforcement agents, FBI and Federal Marshalls were responding to those crimes.

Apples and Oranges.

I get Bundy owes the gubmint money and they have a right to collect. What I don't get is the excessive force and selective enforcement demonstrated in the face of other more pressing priorities.

It seems to me that liens would take care of this matter better than bullets and mass graves for the cattle they killed. From my perspective there are better places to deploy the assets used on more pressing priorities.

PS - I have recently found an overdue library book here at the house and will return it today and pay the fine rather than risk a SWAT team descending upon my home.

What I don't get is how this concern for law and order and catching the vapors over "free spech zones" was completely absent among our so-called "conservative" brethren was completely absent before Jan. 2009. Heard nothing from the panty-waists that are wringing their hands about jack booted thugs and heavy handed guvmint back during the OWS. Back then they were whimpering and sniveling about the breakdown of social order and demanding troops be sent in to keep us free....

The Federal Government hasn't gobbled up anything. It bought the land (or took it in conquest, whichever way you want to look at it) and has always owned it. it is disposed of land when needed (to the railroads, GIVEN to homesteaders, etc.

The BLM claim that Bundy owes $1 million doesn't add up. Do the math. $1.35 per head per month. That is $16.20 per year per head. So one head over 21 years would = about $340. Would take an avg of 3k head of cattle a monthover 21 years to come up with 1 million. Now Bundy has averaged what over that time period, several hundred head of cattle? That adds up to maybe a couple hundred k. Even with interest, no way is that anywhere close to 1 million.

Libs are stupid and they bought this media lie.

There is no way the government would have waited this long to freeze assets and steal the money he "owes".
It's a BS facade to gain public support.

1) I wouldn't expect anything else. There are many from both sides of the aisle that approach these topics with a healthy degree of cynicism and objectivity. I mistrust the government at times too. You, however, are a classic example of the un-hinged irrationality of the right. You told us all years ago that Obama was going to ban recreational fishing. How's that prediction worked out for ya? :dunce:

2) We have not only lost a US Park Service officer recently (2012) but we have lost local agents over the years too. It's a dangerous job being out in the wild's, far from back-up, dealing with armed wacko right wingers with no regards for the laws of this country.

You remind me of the Russian immigrants in our area. They run all the chop shops and illegally pull bucket fulls of fish from our stocked lakes while "loving" America. :ohno:

Stupid BLM fu*ks could have taken Bundy's cattle & simply auctioned them off. Instead they decided to slaughter them for fun. Too incompetent to even dig half azz graves to bury them in (another environmental hazard btw):

"Bundy Ranch: Cliven Bundy Discovers BLM Mass Cow Graves [Graphic Images].....

....They tried to bury some cows on the compound, but I guess they didn’t dig the hole deep enough, so they throw a cow in and they put dirt over him and you have cow’s legs sticking out of the dirt.”.....

.....The Bureau of Land Management’s court order only gave the federal agency the authority to seize the Bundy ranch cattle from owner Cliven Bundy...

....“They had total control of this land for one week, and look at the destruction they did in one week. Nowhere in the court order that I saw does it say that they can destroy infrastructure, destroy corrals, tanks, desert environment, shoot cattle.

Digging up 1 of the HUGE holes where they threw the cows that they had ran [sic] to death or shot. I feel that this NEEDS to be put out for the public to see. In all honesty I never remember reading that the BLM would be shooting cattle. The only thing I have read/heard said they would be moving them and auctioning them off......"
