The police do stand by at times, but generally that is when protesters are not actually breaking any laws like blocking rights of way.

And let's get something straight

Accepting responsibility for your actions is a part of civil disobedience. So if you break laws in the process dont whine when you end up in the pokey.

Martin Luther King Jr went to jail

Henry David Thoreau went to jail

Its a semantic point, but there's a lot of bs that goes on that gets called civil disobedience that isnt

for example, fleeing to Canada to avoid military service is not civil disobedience

neither is complaining about being arrested when in the process of practicing actual civil disobedience

in fact, getting pushed around and arrested is THE POINT of civil disobedience

We'll see which molehill gets made into a mountain first-

my bet is that it will be on their treatment at the hands of the police

Well if you stand in the street in protest - you go to jail...
I haven't seen much complaining about the handling so far but there's still time

(But I do love a good protest, much like Thomas Jefferson who raved about France...)

"Every man has two countries... His own and France"
I'm pretty sure that one is attributed to Jefferson

Curious if you said the same thing in the Cliven Bundy threads.

Yeah, what JSO said.

Wait, you have the 2 line response and I had the page long one. Its suppose to be the other way around.. ;)
It takes more than two lines to explain to us how the girl that makes $300/week brings home $435/week....

Fast food protests might be more effective if they peacefully rallied while armed to the teeth.

I didn't do an exhaustive search because I KNEW it would come up empty. That was kinda the point. :dunce:

Indeed,
This thread has clearly established that a large percentage of AGS posters have no idea what civil disobedience is
