It still was a message, once Reagan was elected in November 1980 it was known that he would be inaugurated President. It's just a date on a calender. Besides, I thought the US didn't negotiate with terrorists? And if we're really going to give Reagan credit for the end of the hostage crisis, then you'll have to give Obama credit for the death of Osama.
