I am sure Col Hogan or Alpha will correct me on the date but general pop. AK/AR guns must be semi-auto after 198?. There are places that give away brand new AK's with new subscribers to cell phone/TV/Internet in Montana.Ibanez wrote:So, how are well known, fully automatic weapons such as the AK or M16 not assault rifles? Grizza, I know you know your stuff, but some online research reveals that they are Assault Rifles. Rifles are weapons. Ergo, they are assault weapons. They have selector switches, safe-sem-auto or Safe-semi-burst.
So explain to me how they aren't. Educate me since the US Army Field Manual is wrong.
If you want a full auto weapon there are a few permits that you have to purchase, some background checks, and some more yearly permits you have to pay.
For instance,
Suppressor for a .223. $200 bucks for the permit which is just a stamp, and a background check and fingerprint. Couple months later you can pick up your suppressor.
A guy I know had a Dillon Mini-Gun. He had to pay yearly and 5 yearly permits to own it because it was full auto. He sold it in 2004 and bought a Ferrari and a bunch of property down South.
There are laws that regulate these type of things.
