Well, I'm sure that the seat doesn't hurt your vagina, but for those of us with a nutsack, that big cushy chamois in those bike shorts makes riding the 250+ miles I ride a week much more tolerable for those nuts. I wear gore bibs and whatever jersey is on top of the pile.

Don't need cushy chamois if you have a Brooks saddle. Thing has formed to every nook and cranny of my nether regions and couldn't be more comfortable. Actually, it is even less comfortable if I wear chamois.



Couldn't imagine riding on a racing saddle. But, if you actually race, then more power to you cause the bit of weight difference actually matters to you. It's the people that think they need all that kind of shit because that's what Lance Armstrong uses that crack me up.

My comment wasn't to say that I'm a fast cyclist by any means. I ride for recreation... I don't really give a fuck how fast I go (except on descents ). I don't know how fast you ride... but, any cyclist that talks shit... would probably leave me in the dust.

That's because of the way that Brooks form....a short doesn't allow them to get the proper fit.


However, I don't have a Brooks on my bike - nor do I do enough miles to warrant spending the money on a Brooks. I still have the standard seat that came with my bike - the Bontrager H1 saddle. Yeah, when I'm out my Attack bibs are awesome.

I only have a few things to add to the posts above:

1) Seats on a bike are unique to each rider, they make 15,000 different seats because there at 15,000 different ass shapes.

2) I could care less if I annoy someone with what I wear when I ride. I wear clothes that are functional for the ride. I kinda think it is an added benefit if it pisses someone off.

3) It won't be much longer until I start riding armed, you've been warned.

4) I obey traffic laws and go out of my way to ride where there is plenty of room. If someone doesn't like it, see #3 above.

5) I know cycling is risky but so is being a fat ass.

This thread does remind me I need a new comfort bike. No point in driving to work when most of the schools I go to are 1-5 miles away. Any recommendations, preferably under $350 (needs a basket/box too)?

bump your limit a couple bucks and go with a Trek FX series. There is a magic number on bikes, that if you don't hit that price you are getting a piece of shit. I sell bikes as part of my job, and I can say in my experience selling (and riding) as well as talking with serious bike riders (I work with a guy who has ridden his bike to work every single day for over 15 years regardless of weather, and another that is going on a year, and a couple others who put thousands of miles on per year) that price seems to be 400 for your commuter/hybrid bike.


Can put racks up front and back, pannier bags, a basket if you so wish, etc...


It can go for up to 30-40 miles rather comfortably if you so choose.

Right now I carry a can of pepper spray, but I am considering a lightweight handgun. I had a guy come at me with a crowbar last year. Some folks are such pussies.
