Super Bowl MVPs by College

After the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams battle for 60 minutes on Sunday, a new Super Bowl champion will be crowned.

And with that, the next Super Bowl Most Valuable Player will be named as well. Last year, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles became the first player from the University of Arizona to win the award.

Super Bowl MVPs have come from colleges big and small, from the Division II ranks to powerhouses like Alabama. One has come from FCS side Delaware, and a few played their college football at Georgia.

Here’s a rundown of where each Super Bowl MVP played their college football.

University of Montana Football Player Found Dead After Apparent Suicide

University of Montana football player Andrew Harris was found dead in his home on Tuesday, the university confirmed. Harris was 22.

Police are investigating Harris’s death as a suicide, Missoula Police Sgt. Travis Welsh told the Montana Standard. No other details have been released.

“The University of Montana is deeply saddened to learn of the loss of one its students, Andrew Harris,” the school said in a statement, per NBC Montana.

The redshirt senior defensive end was a native of Kalispell, Mont. Harris saw playing time in eight games last season in a special teams role, recording one tackle and 1/2 a sack in 2018.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Andrew’s family and friends at this difficult time,” president Seth Bodnar said. “The entire UM family mourns his loss and our hearts go out to all who knew him.”

Grizzlies athletics director Kent Haslam said that Harris’s teammates, other student-athletes, coaches and staff were notified Tuesday.

Harris was a first-team all-state player for the undefeated Class AA state champion Kalispell Glacier High School football team in 2014. His father, Greg, played for Montana from 1971-1975 and his brother Josh was a defensive end for the Grizzlies from 2008-2012.

Another week, some more education

So here’s what we learned:
Delaware>JMU-who is now one game away from being out of the playoffs
SIU>WIU
Montana State>UND-who is also one game from playoff elimination
We also found towson, Cal poly, and southern Utah are all three one game away from playoff elimination; and we are just starting conference slates.

IS it fair for teams this early to be eliminated from playoff contention? Post your thoughts below or start a topic and we will go.

This week we have potent games again in the Big Sky(Montana, UND; Montana State vs Sacramento State; and the battle of the desperates SUU vs Cal poly)

In the Missouri Valley, of course UNI vs. INSU-the first true test of the season for the Panthers, a suddenly resurgent Missouri State vs. Youngstown State, and South Dakota State at a Powerful Redbird team.

Elsewhere James Madison goes on the road to try and salvage a season against an undefeated Albany team; Villanova and Maine face off; Sacred Heart at Deleware; and Coastal Carolina goes to Furman, with furman also on the brink)

Going to be a good slate, drink some cold ones for me; going to the in-laws 25th wedding anniversary this saturday

What did we learne?

NDSU is who we thought they were, after playing a creampuff schedule so far the Bizon beat a good-looking Montana team. Looks like the Valley title still goes through Fargo. We Also learned the MVFC >Bigsky, and that EWU doesn’t need to play defense, question is when they run into a team that DOES, what happens? We also learned boys and girls moving to the sun belt yes it gets you 20 extra scholarships, but you have to play on Thursday to be on National TV. This week we will learn about JMU and Deleware, WIU and SIU, UND and Montana State-especially if they can rebound from the heartbreaker against EWU. Have a good weekend

Week 2

So this year is shaping up to be, well interesting I don’t see any clear cut team that is head and shoulders above the rest. Yes NDSU has continued their winning ways but didn’t quite dominate a Weber State team like they might have in the past. yes they beat Iowa State, but that team would probably finish lower half of the valley. The Montana NDSU matchup should be fun in a couple of weeks. Not much today folks heading out to the race in Chicago, sorry for being flaky. BTW with this weather wish I was in HAwaii with my Panthers.
