WCU & ETSU to play at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2016?

Post by The Cats »

East Tennessee State University has been in negotiations to take on Western Carolina University in a Southern Conference game at the track, people close to the deal have confirmed.

The Bucs and Catamounts could play at BMS on Sept. 17, a week after Tennessee and Virginia Tech take part in what has been dubbed the “Battle of Bristol.”

An official announcement about the ETSU-Western Carolina game, which has been rumored for months, is expected soon.

That would be cool.

And for Bristol, good to get another game on the field before they remove it

Yeah, I was quite surprised how small a football field was in the infield. Some of the CGI is just wrong when they show it taking up most of the infield. I kinda liked this one showing Neyland inside Bristol...

Talladega is 2 2/3 miles long, built to top Daytona's 2 1/2 miles. I got a nice taste for how big Daytona is last time I was there in 2008. After the race the lines for the parking shuttles were insane so we decided to hoof it around to the other side of the track. That turned into a conditioning hike. :|

Yeah, that's crazy. But IMO that's more of a track than a stadium.

I went to Talladega once, and the hike to our seats was pretty long. It was raining in turn three while sunny elsewhere.

Yeah, I think if you included the banked track area you could fit a half doz football field inside..
