Semifinal Week (2015) - Breakdown

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Playoffs

SHSU 10-62 JAXST
RICH 7-33 NDSU

  • Best Performance: (#1) Jacksonville St. 62, Sam Houston State 10 - The Gamecocks dominate yardage 639-259 and turnovers 4-1 as they humiliate the talented Bearkats.

Worst Performance: Sam Houston State 10, (#1) Jacksonville St. 62 - Hitting a wall: SHSU has made the semifinals in both seasons under KC Keeler, but they've been outscored 97-13 in those two contests. :?

Most Surprising Result: (#1) Jacksonville St. 62, Sam Houston State 10 - JSU is averaging 625 yards-per-game in the playoffs; if they manage similar numbers against the Bison, we should all just abandon our free will and embrace the Gamecocks as our new gods. :notworthy:

Celebration Bowl

ALCORN 34-41 NCAT (in Atlanta, GA)

  • Best Performance: (#22) North Carolina A&T 41, Alcorn St. 34 - Aggie RB Tarik Cohen puts up 348 total yards, averages 14.5 yards-per-touch, and scores 3 touchdowns.

Worst Performance: Alcorn St. 34, (#22) North Carolina A&T 41 - It's kinda odd this ended up close since the Braves were outgained 543-260 and turnovers were even.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

Not likely, I think. My thought from the beginning of this tournament is that the committee put up really unbalanced brackets such that the side North Dakota State came through was WAY tougher than the side Jacksonville State came though.

I think this is a really interesting matchup where the outcome is really in doubt. But I do not expect Jacksonville State's offense to just run roughshod over North Dakota State's defense.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Montana had a 24 point game against SDSU, 6 against NDSU. UNI 53, 29 point games, and 13 against NDSU. Richmond 48, 39 point games and 7 against NDSU.

I can see JSU scoring 20 and a turnover resulting in 7 against NDSU. JSU has given up a lot of points in the playoffs.

Chatty 50 point game, 35 against JSU. Chuck South 14 point game and 38 against JSU. Sam 42, 34 and 48 point games and 10 against JSU. Sam had a lot of turnovers stopping drives.
