Can't close beaches down in peak tourist season due to a couple shark attacks..

Public needs to be assauged. Just offer a bounty for the buggest shark caught within say 5 miles, hoist him up on a big public display and have the mayor say' "We got him, all is safe now."

I saw that movie. In fact, I think they're re-releasing it this summer for its 40th anniversary.

Would the jews really cut off a couple of kids' arms to promote their movie? Spandos?

My sister in law was one of the trauma nurses for the boy. His body was mangled. Last she knew, the boys leg was going to be removed.

it's not unusual. Sharks see a swimmer, they think it's an animal in distress and they attack.

I used to dive in and around sharks off Florida and the Bahamas...many times. As a rule, they don't attack humans unless provoked. If you see a shark, keep a safe distance, and don't flail around like a seal.

BTW, saw a Mako shark once N/W of Puerta Vallarta...VERY cool looking...the Lamborghini of predators.

Are they sure they weren't lemon sharks? They can look similar

I only ask because those are much more common (and just as likely to attack a person- they were probably responsible for the weekend attacks)

That's like saying you know someone that saw the moon, two nights in a row. Sharks near shore aren't unusual.

Both are common on the coast but you're right, easily can be recognized as the other.

My money is on bull sharks in these two attacks.

How many times have you seen two seven-ft. bull sharks in knee-deep water at the Isle of Palms in a period of only a few days?

I know sharks often swim near shore. I also know bull sharks like hang out around river estuaries. I also know it is rare to see two sharks in very shallow water in a matter of days. I spend a lot of time at the IoP and never saw a shark.

In the 32 years I've lived here, I've never been to the IOP for the beach.

But, being that my family has an ocean front house on Folly Beach where we'd live for about 1 month every summer since the late 80s, i have seen plenty of large sharks close to shore.

It was either 89 or 90 when my brother caught a 5-ft shark near the remains of the Atlantic House.

Not me.

Lemons are hit and run - theyll take a piece and then move on

Bull sharks will go for the midsection, kill you, and then consume you at their leisure

thats why I say I think this was a lemon shark, and the same one did both attacks
