November 28th, 1998: Will History be Made in Fargo?

Post by AZGrizFan »

Western Illinois - 52
UM Griz - 9

Thats the last time the Montana Grizzlies lost to an FCS team by 25 or more points.

206 games ago. A stretch during which the Griz went 163-43.
15 years and 10 months
5772 days ago

During that stretch, their WORST loss to an FCS team is by 18 to NAU ('13), with additional losses by 17 to Weber ('08), 17 to Richmond ('08 title game), by 14 to EWU ('05), by 14 to Cal Poly ('05 playoffs), by 14 to Sac St ('11) and by 12 to SHSU ('04, revenged in the playoffs that year).

Also lost to the following FBS teams during that stretch: Hawaii (by 18), Oregon (34), Iowa (34) and Tennessee (26).

So, only THREE times in over 15 years have the Griz lost to an FCS team by MORE than 2 scores and NEVER by more than 18, and the oddsmakers think this Griz team is MORE than 3 scores worse than this NDSU team?

Jesus I wish I knew somebody in Vegas that would cover about a $1000 bet for me until I get there next week to collect.

Three different houses bet, now and additional $1000. If it was a sure thing you would find a way, better hurry it is down to 23.

You do know the oddsmakers do this for a living, and make a lot of money doing it.

So explain to me how NDSU scores 34 unanswered points on FBS Iowa State on the road to win going away by 20 and the odds makers should think the Griz are better than that? They did beat Iowa State and only lost to Kansas State by 4, and the Griz lost to ummm Wyoming. Forget all the things you posted about all the years, as they do not matter anymore than the Bison winning 3 National Championships in a row.

The number is what it is for a reason. Be happy and mortgage the one house on this one. It is a sure thing.

Yes, the number is what it is to generate bets. And all the money is going on the Griz to cover, thus the # is coming down. That's the way it works. Oddsmakers just want to generate revenue, the # is not an indication of which way they think the game will go, or necessarily by how much.

Cmon. so all games start at 25? Looks like the Cats started at 9ish. It definitely is an indicator.

Now can you answer my question, in the rest of the post. I would like to read your reasoning, if the Bison scored 34 unanswered points, winning by 20, against the Cyclones on the Road, why would it not be plausible for the Bison to win by 25 at home against a team that lost to Wyoming and only scored 12?

Not looking to argue, but I can't see why 25 is unreal. I watched the USD game with an ex-griz player and he didn't think the Griz will be within 40, and he knows the game.

My bet would be no. If history being made is defined as North Dakota State beating Montana by 25 or more points this weekend my bet would be it won't be made. Of course I'm not absolutely certain of that. We never are. But that would be my bet.

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

We also haven't been shut out in 335 games (longer than I've been alive). If that one is snapped, I'll be drinking heavily.

What about the Bobcat streak of losing 4 straight to the Griz at home? :coffee:

It only takes a point to beat the Griz.

For instance, 49-48 at Wa-Griz in the playoffs would work. :coffee:

The last time the Gophers played the Bison, the local book in the Twin Cites was Gophers by 14. Had a $100 in my pocket when I talked to him and kept it there. Could of, would of, should of.........oh well.

Good thing the Hens aren't playing us this year, then.
