Who shut down the Government?
Some inconvenient facts for libs to swallow.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

So the senate is consitutionally obligated to bring it to a vote?

Re: Who shut down the Government?
Both sides collaborated in shutting the government down. The Tea Party started it, but the Dems were more than willing for a fight.
We clearly have a spending problem. I don't think shutting the government down is the way to solve it. I also think we need to cut spending everywhere, not just Obamacare.

Re: Who shut down the Government?
1. The House voted to fund the government save for that unconstitutional claptrap.
2. That was rejected by the Senate and the liar President.
3. Therefore, the shutdown is NOT on the House. It's on those who rejected the funding bill.
End of story.

The unconstitutional claptrap that the Supreme Court said was constitutional? You sound like a sore loser, that's why more people blame the GOP than blame the Dems.SuperHornet wrote:1. The House voted to fund the government save for that unconstitutional claptrap.

The funding for ACA doesn't come from the budget they are fighting over. It is in effect right now. They could also have voted to continue last years budget until they could agree on this one. They chose not to do that. You should really learn more before you post stupid shit.SuperHornet wrote:1. The House voted to fund the government save for that unconstitutional claptrap.

That's the whole point, V. The House passed a money bill, and it was rejected willy-nilly simply because conservatives won't cave on something outside it. The idiotic Donkeys are to blame, NOT the Elephants.Vidav wrote:The funding for ACA doesn't come from the budget they are fighting over. It is in effect right now. Ah yes, the alternative universe of liberalism and the MSM...One side is willing to negotiate, one side is not, but the one that is shoulders all the blame for the disagreement... makes perfect sense.

Re: Who shut down the Government?
Doesn't matter. It's back to that thing where the Democrats make the decision to shut down the government rather than sign off on spending the Republicans authorize then blame the Republicans because no spending was authorized. The way they're able to do that is truly amazing.kalm wrote:So the senate is consitutionally obligated to bring it to a vote?
Thomas Sowell.
Think of any relationship in which two parties decide together on what to spend money on. Say a husband and wife. They work out their family budget. They both agree on what to spend on groceries, utilities, entertainment, etc. But the husband wants to buy a flat screen TV this month.
The wife says no. She will not agree to spend money on the flat screen TV. So the husband then refuses to agree to spend any money on groceries, utilities, etc., because he can't have his flat screen TV. THEN he says it's the wife's fault that they don't have anything to eat, utilities get shut off, etc.
The husband is the Democrat. That's basically what the Democrats do. That's pretty much the situation every time. The Democrats want to spend more money than both sides can agree on spending so they refuse to sign off on spending anything.
Then they blame the shut down on the Republicans when they're really the ones that did it and it works. Happens every time.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
Deep Purple: No One Came

And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
Deep Purple: No One Came

Re: Who shut down the Government?
The Senate would have voted for it if it weren't for the symbolic amendments that the Republicans placed on the CR. How do you not see that? Again, Republicans picked the wrong battle at the wrong time.SuperHornet wrote:That's the whole point, V. You didn't answer my question. You hang your hat on the constitutionality of what one side is doing while dismissing the other.JohnStOnge wrote:Doesn't matter. And your analogy fails to mention all the money spent on iphones, internet, cable tv's and male prostitutes while the hubby is away at work.
