Montana Sheriffs issue statement

Seems like a good letter

In the letter, it states they don't believe that the recent mass shootings are the fault of the weapons used, but often mentally disturbed individuals who wielded them.

These tragedies that have taken place in the United States are not committed by legal gun owners. They are committed by folks that have very serious issues mentally and I feel that if we address those mental issues we could diminish the amount of these events that take place in the United States," MSPOA President, Chouteau County Sheriff Vern Burdick said.
"What I'm saying is: You might have taken care of your wolf problem, but everyone around town is going to think of you as the crazy son of a bitch who bought land mines to get rid of wolves."

He states the obvious, the "we must do something" crowd will not even acknowledge the obvious.

Cool. Are the sheriffs asking for increased funding for mental health issues? Great to see the wack-job Right coming around on this issue; desperate times.....
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Pretty good letter. But if I recall correctly, the guy in Colorado who shot up the theater got his guns legally.

In any case, I don't think you'll see substantive changes coming out of this whole issue. The House will never agree to significant gun restrictions. Even if they did, the Supreme Court has ruled for gun rights pretty consistently. Correct?

Spot on.

Likely we will end up with some sort of "feel good" bill that gives a victory to the gun control lobby, but does nothing on the street, and more or less limits choices for the law abiding citizens.

The prior "assault weapons ban" would be a great case in point.
