Portland St. at TCU: No brainer. TCU by three touchdowns.

Weber St. at Northern Colorado: So far, the Bears are looking like a mediocre DII team. Firing Downing may not have been such a good idea after all. Another no brainer. Weber State by three touchdowns.

Idaho St. at Northern Arizona: Does Idaho State look surprisingly stronger this year, or was the blowout of UNC because the Bears are unbelivingly weak? Did the Lumberjack loss on the road at PSU tell us anything useful? Tougher call, but Northern Arizona wins a close game at home.

Montana St. at Eastern Washington: Which team is the real deal this year? The defending conference champs have performed well against strong competition, and the defending national champs have lost their running game and started the season 0-3. Home advantage will not be quite enough for this game as the ascending MSU Bobcats win another close game.

Montana at Sacramento St: After a bad year in 2010 (for Montana), and with a credible showing at Tennessee and strong wins at home against CalPoly and eatern Washington, the always-strong Montana program appears to be back on track for 2011. But whether or not the Griz are the same juggernaut this year as they have been in past years, Sac State's road losses at Southern Utah and Weber were against very strong competition, and the Hornets program remains stronger than it has been in past years. UPSET ALERT! In a squeeker, Sac State wins this one at home in the BSC game of the week.

Still not a believer, huh native? Sac State literally QUIT against Weber yesterday....that's not the mark of a very good team. :coffee:

And OBTW, I have been a true believer in the Montana program ever since Jimmy Wilson went there in 2003 for the 2004 (?) season, when I started paying attention to the Big Sky.

I post mine on Wednesdays as usual. Sap always gets his out early.

If you are in Dallas, any chance of getting out to Fort Worth for the PSU game? The pistol looked good against NAU. We are definitely not Nevada (yet) but we are looking better than last year. It'll be interesting to see how we do with it against the FBS (although 3-4 touchdowns is very reasonable).

Great idea! The PSU offense can give a scare to anyone and will entertain everyone! Looks like there are a few tickets left online for the TCU game...

TCU
WSU
NAU
EWU
UM

Tougher to call this week's games. Conference teams still only have one road win through three weeks, but after seeing Sac St play Saturday, I just can't pick them to beat Montana at home. Not saying Sac St can't win that game, but they gave me no reason to believe they will. My heart says the Hornets will get their crap together, but my mind says otherwise. Also, I think E Wash is too good on the red turf and I'm picking them in a tight one.

Saturday Sept 24th

Portland State Vikings @ TCU Horned Frogs

TCU is obviously a shell of thier former selves, and Portland State looks like they may be quite decent, but it wont matter, PSU will score some points, but TCU will obviously score more. TCU 48 PSU 14

Weber State Wildcats @ Northern Colorado Bears

Only once in this 5 year series has this game been decided by more than 8 points, Weber State's offense looked good vs Sac and thier defense was much improved from the Utah State debalacle. Northern Colorado is down right now to say the least, losing at home to NAIA Lindenwood, getting beat soundly by CSU and losing by 30 at ISU. The Weber/UNC game has always been close, but I think Weber pulls away in the 2nd half to win. Weber State 40 UNC 20

Idaho State Bengals @ Northern Arizona Lumberjacks

The attitude of Bengal football has changed, they believe they can win and they showed it against UNC, NAU is coming in 1-2 with a loss at Portland State last saturday. NAU will be happy to be back in the friendly confines of the Skydome, if this game was being played in Pokey, I would pick the Bengals, but its not so the Lumberjacks win. NAU 28 ISU 20

Montana State Bobcats @ Eastern Washington Eagles

Big Sky game of the Week, Eastern Washington is finally at home after 3 miserable weeks of football. Montana State comes in 2-1 after a dominating effort over Minot State. Right now, MSU looks to be the better team, EWU is hungry for a win and it could come at the expense of MSU, but I dont think they will, EWU is a shell of thier former selves. Montana State 38 EWU 28

Montana Grizzlies @ Sacramento State Hornets

Have the Grizzlies returned? having played thier last 2 at home against good competition, you could say so, but now they go back on the road and face a hungry Sacramento State team who struggled in thier last 2 trips to the state of Utah, the Hornets get to play at home for the first time this year. This game is a toss-up, the Griz look like the better team, but they are not at home this week, I think in a close game the Griz win. Montana 24 Sacramento State 21

Your point is well taken, AZG. Although the Hornets were apparently exhausted from three difficult road games in a row, CSUS retains some prime athletes on the roster.

I do not think Sac State will fold so easily next week in their first home game of the season.

I think the Weber win is the first road win prediction I'd made to this point (besides Lindenwood over UNC :coffee: ). And I bumped up the margin in the EWU-MSU game because I think being in full desperation mode + payback mode will actually help EWU.
