Douche alert!

The media concern or preaching of why Montana will give Tennessee a tough game is a little harder to pin-point although I have done it. See in 2011 it is not ok for a media member to say things that will hurt people's feelings even if it is the truth. The Kumbaya media that exists today lives by 2 rules; 1. Don't hurt anyone's feelings even if it means telling the truth. 2. Hold on to the myth of objectivity like your life depends on it. They won't say, Montana is middle of the pack Big Sky conference team. Montana would be knocked in the quarterfinals of the flag football intramurals at UTk. Montana is not good. Montana will get blown out. They won't say it because it might hurt someone's feelings. They won't say it because if Montana does keep it close they get to say "I told you so. You fans are dumb homers. You can never be objective like me!!!"
So we hear things like
"This Montana team is a tough hard nosed bunch. Tennessee better not over look them" ........................My grandmother is hard nosed too. I have overlooked Montana since May.
"This is the winningest team in FCS over the last decade. The Vols will have their handful".................The winningest FCS team??!!! You don't say!!!! The tallest midget will still get his ass kicked in a fight.
"Trumain Johnson is a fantastic player who will give Tennessee problems"......................................Holy hell look out for this 6th round draft pick at corner. What a game changer!!!
These are the facts. Fortunately for you I don't live by these rules. I live by what I see and what I know and I know that Montana is going to get their feelings hurt come Saturday. I know that their players aren't any good and never will be. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. - Coach Finstock

At least he knows that our players aren't any good and never will be.

The downside to this is that we'll probably lose. If it's close, he'll blame it all on Tennessee playing like shit. Either way he still gets to trumpet about how right he was.
God, I hope we win.

Not likely...but it would be pretty sweet.

I fully expect us to just get blown out. It would just be nice to finally be one of those teams that breaks one, especially since we've received so much shit from everyone over the last few years about scheduling, toughness, etc.

Meh, he'll be crying to himself later when they get stomped by the Gators/Bama/LSU and lose to Arky and USCeuofmman1122 wrote:The downside to this is that we'll probably lose. You have to look at the bright side, which is that this guy just moved the goal line for all other FCS-bashers. This one blog post is the new benchmark against which all other FCS-bashing will be judged for at least the next 5 years.
Re: Douche alert!
When was the last time Montana played a BCS school? This is your average weekly build up/fodder from the BCS fanbase coming into a game like this. I haven't even looked at UNC stuff, but I'm sure it's more of the same - maybe tamer because of Tech last year. But last year the Tech fans/blogs/boards were all over what a shitty team we were. Afterwards, it was a little different, but it was definitely all about how bad Tech was and not how good our team was.

Well, I hope our midget team can pull a James Madison on 'em...not likely, though.

Don't take it personally - that's just the way it rolls in Vol Nation. They are also as hard, if not harder, on their own coaches and players. For the most part they are great fans and expect nothing but excellence from their football team, but they've had a rough few years.
That won't stop them, however, from talking trash. They're taking it easy on the Griz. They won't hold back the lip for 'Bama and UFla.

Re: Douche alert!
I'm obviously not a Montana fan, and never will be, but this guy is a complete jackass. Johnson will not be a 6th round draft pick. He will go 4th round at the latest and probably earlier. He obviously doesn't realize how many former Montana players are solid NFL players. Do a little research you Douche.
